How to communicate with other language speaking capsuleers?

Last night I learned sometimes its best to just never speak, at all.

I was in a system that I don't normally operate in durping around, flying in at 70-100km off the various stations, ratting a bit in belts, etc.. it was a dead system and of the 12 people online it looked like about 8 of them were in one particular indy corp. They were all out and about in mining ships and an Orca.

Being a chatty sort, I struck up convo with one guy and awkwardly just said hello and tried to assure him I wasn't there to gank him or anything, that at the time I was flying solo. I shouldnt have even mentioned it, because I think it made him more paranoid than anything. It was a brief conversation that ended abruptly after ganking was mentioned.

So fast forward about five minutes... local lights up with about 5-10 new folks, flashy orange and then flashy red and I noticed all the indy guys zipping to stations and docking up or getting in frigs/cruisers. It seemed to me someone probably just got ganked.

I tried to invite the fellow from the first chat back to chat with me and he rejected me. Whoops. Talk about timing. Ha ha ha.

Explain to me why you get a beyond state of the art 80's / battlestar galactica gym complete with flux capacitors and pressure gauges , not to mention an audience ... and I have to do chores in Siberia until I run away to a mountain top to scream..

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So after you pod me you are asking if i have a girlfriend? Or you want to be my girlfriend? Ugh

Well, I was thinking about helpful sexual advice, but not fussy v0v

Tbf if you post pics of boobies or alcohol in local or chat you generally get happy faces. 5 nice gifs to reel them in, then something vile, then run away.

I love it!

Try listening this and hum along:

If you're sad and you know it - pod Amarr
If you cannot find Caldari - pod Amarr
The Minnie are too frisky.
Gallente is looking shifty - pod Amarr

Should clear any misunderstandings. P

I tried google translater when saw russians in local. Or so I think. It seemed to make sorta sense. Maybe they understood my reply as well :)

No go for diplomacy imho.

I disagree, I have negotiated 3 separate treaties with different groups of Russians using only google translate.

Hey, Loyd! Were you able to hide the drugs?

a.k.a. 'slowly & loudly'
which on chat translates to one letter at a time

I demonstrate my American superiority to them by using English but putting the letter "o" after every word.

Given your self-proven history of being unable to actually get anything done, we're going to require some proof.

Although boobie gifs probably work best in local if you're feeling friendly (bonjour madame ftw), and the odd bit of ascii modern art

Honestly Google translate works fine for this. Even for diplomat work it seems to do ok. Its far from perfect but Its better then hiring a translator.

I like to Block and Bounty them...

When I'm sitting in NPC chat with 700 others, and EVERYONE is speaking English, getting one person to start yappin in russian is simply ignorant. That person clearly has no interest in conversing with the group and wants to fill up a fast scrolling chat with gibberish. Take it to the appropriate channel...

I usually respond to the Russians in chat by switching to Japanese. They are usually pretty good humored at that point and switch to English.

Except sometimes they switch to Japanese too, at which point I am screwed because my kanji knowledge is pretty much at survival level.

Basically, I feel ignorant for not learning Russian these days.
