I don't see why this can't be implemented. It wouldn't slow down regular posters, just those who create topics. To be fair, they shouldn't be spamming dozens of new threads all the time anyway.

That Forums Gold tool Mags linked is awesome btw, been testing it myself the last few days. It needs adding to a few peoples sigs to get a bit more attention. That said, why the hell are players having to design 3rd party tools because the forums are as bad as parts of the game.

Another idea: instead of locking redundant topics just merge them into existing threads. We would end up with ginormous threadnaughs wailing about certain things, but they'd be absolutely hilarious.

I agree but this forum was after all, an already developed one they customized.

The fact we also lost years worth of postings when we changed, tells me exactly where the problem is. You'll never fix that or this site, while the problems remain.


I was under the impression CCP wrote this one in house? Or did they simply bastardize it?
I looked but after asking Tippia, the only post he found from then was this one. I believe we lost a fair few posts, after the failed first attempt at release. So some detailed posts I recall were lost.

As Tippia pointed out, they use a modified YAF (Yet Another Forum) forum engine. You can see it if you dive into the generated code or the CSS and notice the references to various .yaf classes and identifiers.

I've seen the OP's nose on so many forums! I've heard his voice in so many post. I've even helped add to all those redundant post for which he is making this post.

and I must say...

for once I agree with him.

I switched from WoW to EVE about a year ago. EVE as a game has been much more thrilling than anything WoW ever gave me.

But Blizzard does do one thing great. . . Their support sites. For a game company with multiple titles, their website(s) are from my pov some of the best I've seen...

Maybe one of these hopefully 6 week patches could be focus on overhauling the website, so it isn't as hard to navigate. I know for NPE, trying to learn your way around this group of websites/pages, is worse than learning to how to move around in EVE.

Tried to not be a hypocrite after telling someone they should use the search function to find an old thread that I've posted in, knowing the full title along with several key words in the thread.

It didn't matter if I searched 1 word or an entire phrase, I couldn't find it. Not only that but I closed the window and came back to search again a couple minutes later by just browsing through my old posts to find that words that I had previously searched for were being highlighted as hit results even though it was a fresh page and I had not used the search function and was not currently using the search function.

Your HTML is just flat out broken, CCP. Please hire someone capable of fixing it.
