Hi all.. I am a new player wrapping up my 21 day free trial and I think I will sub and keep going:)

I am currently working on Gallante ships... I am looking for a good ship I can work towards for missions and incursions later on.

I do not want to waste months training on something that no one needs in incursions.. so I was wondering if you all could recommend a decent Gallante ship tor me to start training on for incursions...

I realize that the incursion fleets require specific fits.. and I am ok with that.

But what type of ship roles are they in need of the most?

I appreciate your help.

Note: I have trained drones quite a bit so far... not sure if they are used in incursions.

So people have told you Vindicator... while yes that is a great ship in incursions, chances are you're not going to have the cash to buy and properly fit one before you're ready to do incursions (it will cost over 1 billion isk). Even if you had it, you probably don't want to invest that much Isk into a ship for an activity that you have no experience with. People do lose ships in incursions sometimes. I recommend starting smaller before diving into a blingy pirate faction battleship like the Vindicator.

One thing about Gallente is that their ships tend to favor armor tanking, but if you want to get into incursions, you want to have good shield tanking skills. There is at least one group that does armor-based incursion fleets, but pretty much everyone else does shield and you'll have a much easier time getting into it that way. So, I recommend getting your shield tanking skills up as you go. As far as Gallente ships good for incursion, well the Megathron is not actually that popular in shield fleets. The ship you want to look at is actually the Hyperion.

Are there groups besides eve uni that will accept a shield hyperion for incursions?

Gallente ships can't* shield tank

* - there are exceptions, such as the Ishtar, none of which are suited for incursions.

Incursion sites are quite easy, but the sort of people that run them the most in highsec are extremely efficiency-oriented. So 'good enough to win but not good enough to win fast' isn't accepted at all.

Also it's not just about the chassis, you need the skills to properly fit and maximize the use of said ship. Given you are three weeks old it could be some time before you are able to fully fit and fly as part of a Incursion fleet. Personally I prefer Armor tanking since I fly Amarr and Gallente, no idea why people prefer shield tanks in incursions to such a degree. Especially since armor got some love. Sure the passive regen is nice but with logistic ships is it that large of a balance changer?

If you much go shield tank I recommend Caldari. Even if you like guns you can go Rohk for the passive resistance bonuses and sniper bonus which is good for sniping or blasters.

Either you guys haven't flown incursions or you have and did poor job. Not really judging or anything, but the facts aren't lying. There is only 1 armor incursion fleet running and when they run, they usually do VG's and not Headquarters. Shields incursions just work better, they apply the DPS better, since they don't require the low slots for armor. The mid slots only need resists, like two adaptives, maybe a Large Shield extender and resist rigs.

As an experienced incursion runner with Warp To Me, Hyperions, Rokhs, Tempest Fleet Issues regularly get accepted into the fleet, if you meet the requirements of 100k EHP (EFT) and +70% on all resists. Warp To Me is also very friendly to new players and accept everyone based on x-ing up and don't put friends before strangers.

Unless this all changed the last two months, the best ships you can fly are still the Vindicator (Close range, blasters), Nightmare (All ranges, Tachyon) and the Machariel (Either 800mm for close range or 1400mm for long range). If you listen to the Fleet commander, ship losses are minimum. I have never lost a ship when flying an incursion and I have been doing them for several months already.

Not in the position to check in-game, but there is a channel which lists all of the incursion channels you can check out. Most incursion communities have fitting programs which you can follow accordingly.

I have also been advised that a Megathron is an excellent incursion starter when fitted correctly.

there is a channel that regularly recruits for incursion fleets that of course I cannot remember right now, but they will give you excellent advice on fitting and fleet composition

I can think of 3 it might be, for shield D-INC or DIN flotten for armor TDF (The Ditanian Fleet).

There is also [OIC] Open incursion Community and IIC PUB 2 smaller armor VG communities.

To be honest, it's not. Atleast, not the normal one. The Fleet Issue can be used.
