Since there is no other place to do this... I just wanted to say hello.

I have been playing in Eve now for about a week and still trying to find exactly what I want to "do". So far it has been quite a learning curve but I am slowly getting a grasp on things, I think.

Hopefully I will at some point find a corporation to be apart of.

Happy gaming all!!

Regards!

What are you interested in? PvP or PvE?

Do you prefer solo, small group, or community interaction?

Do you enjoy risk? Or would you prefer playing it safe?

Would you prefer to play more casually or are you willing to invest a little effort into whatever it is that interests you?

Welcome aboard Big smile
If you have any questions this is the forum to ask them in, there's plenty of experienced players in here that are happy to help out newbies. Asking yourself the questions that ShahFluffers posted above will make any questions you may have more focussed.

Bear in mind that unlike most MMO's the only endgame in Eve is the one that you set for yourself, and that other players provide the majority of the content, usually at the end of a gun Pirate The game play possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

If you haven't already done so I suggest that you complete all of the tutorials, they'll give you a basic knowledge of how the game works, a brief overview of some of the more mainstream things you can do, as well as free ships, skill books and a nest egg of cash to get you going. I'd also recommend going through the new player FAQ and bookmarking the Eve University Wiki as a reference.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Welcome to EVE! Ask lots of questions. It's always easiest to learn from people that have been through everything you're trying out.

If you are interested on finding a corp, here is an excellent guide.

Yes, be sure to be as inquisitive as possible and think in opportunities & solutions instead of thinking in problems. Read a lot, watch a ton of youtubes, ask a lot of questions (but question most answers).

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

if you run through all the tutorial missions you will get a brief overview of most of what you can do in eve
you will need to buy, inject and train the Industry skill for this
your next step will be the SoE epic arc (about 50 linked missions)

doing both will give you a decent Isk boost, a bunch of free skill books, and half a dozen or so free ships

questions to ask yourself :-
did you enjoy the scanner training missions (if yes, think about joining a Wormhole Corp, or do some research on exploration)
did you enjoy the npc killing (if yes look at some of the 'mission running' guides, and think about joining a 'Mission Running' Corp)
did you enjoy the resource collecting (if yes, look for a 'mining corp' and do some research on Planetary Interaction)
did you enjoy the market interaction (if yes, do some research on 'eve trading')

things to remember :-
a ship is just a tool
isk is just a tool
tools are expendable
explosions are fun

Ask your questions here first, trolling is explicitly forbidden here so any answers you get will have no malicious intent behind them.
General discussion on the other hand, is full of trolls and while you can get good information in there ,it comes with 2/3rds bs(sometimes hilarious, sometimes not).
I'd recommend reading for a while till you catch the flow here and keeping questions in
nc q&a(here).

Welcome to EVE...

Most frustrations new players have come from not understanding the mechanics of the game.

Be patient with yourself... if you think the game is broken it's most likely you haven't figured out the mechanics of whatever it is you're trying to do.

Have fun... and as stated by others feel free to ask any questions whatsoever... EVE related that is.

Off topic:

This post perfectly describes the problems with the tutorials. Not a single one of those would encourage a new player to pvp.

I didn't really specify the nature of the explosions

so .......

pve has explosions and there are people that find that to be fun
