LOL, someone forgets what CCP tends to do @ Christmas.... "Free Gifs" that mosty contains out of given items before. Or they let you chooose the gift like in 2010 (?), that crashed the Zephyr market big time!


I give it 70% (guess) chance that they will be handed out again in the future. Instead you may better invest in the golden pod implants as that is really listed as a "Special Edition" gift

Zephyrs are niche ships. the ones who use it tend to buy one, then use it for a long time until either they don't need it anymore or until they lose it. it's not even a combat compatible ship, so demand for this item is very, very low. usually I see one lying around in WH POSes for all to use, which rarely happens. all the collectors already have one, so its kind of a dead item. adding more supply to that market easily crashes its value.

Lets add in the Genolution implants in this discussion, I heard someone trying to make a point that the same will happen to geckos when they release new stock. Implants get lost a bit more often, especially since the gen implants can arguably be considered to be combat implants. still, losing a ship does not automatically mean you'll lose your pod as well. last time I lost my pod was I dunno, probably more than a year ago. the release of new implants caused the market to go down for a while, until it stabilized again 20 mil above its crashing point. not a bad investment for the ones buying into it when the new implants were released.

Finally, Geckos.
A heavy hitting drone, very popular among pilots of all trades including carrier pilots, PvP capsuleers and PvE bears. why? they hit hard. it's actually one of the few useful consumables CCP has released in limited supply over the years, probably even more popular than Quafe Zero when it was first released. the best part is, people will always be people. don't tell me you've never heard the phrase "Lol left my drones... ah well **** it". People lose drones all the time, its why trade volume is always high on the little bastards. if people wouldnt lose drones, there wouldnt be such a demand for Warriors, hobs etc. its almost a recyleable form of ammo, not entirely single use, but by far the most disposed of item in this list.

your argument is about geckos crashing hard if/when CCP seeds more geckos around xmas. that's about 6 months from now. until then, there is no real reason to assume new geckos will be seeded, no matter how many tinfoil hats you put on. the only proof we have right now is that CCP has handed out the last batch of geckos and that there is a high demand. combine that fact with the fact that people are derpy, supply will shrink over time, giving the gecko all the freedom it needs to spike upwards. I'm not saying geckos will go up to the 40's or even 50's as some are saying, for in the end I am not sure if I would fly a batch worth 3 dramiels comfortably, however considering the fact that both PvE'ers (who spend stupid amounts of isk on shiny stuff) and cap pilots who are used to spending 20 mil per fighter have bought in on the gecko craze, I truly believe that 25-30 mil per gecko is not crazy talk. as a matter of fact, I think it won't be long until we're there.

and even in case CCP decides to release new geckos at xmas, well, if 6 months worth of spiking can't make you a profit, you're doing it wrong.
