By the time CCP pushes WoD the vampire hype will be over (look at Matrix).

Except WoD is a over 20 year old popular franchise and it's popularity is not based on the current vampire fad.
Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines was a buggy unfinished game and yet people still loved it to death due to the strength of the franchise. And it still has a large following even 7 years later.
If the MMO captures the feeling of the world and has proper gameplay suitable for the rules of the world then CCP will have nothing to worry about as alot of WoD players will easily get onboard.
And from what I read CCP is aiming for, they are on the right track.

Ah thanks, I was already typing...

Yea I played Vampire the Masquerade as well, like I said Im sure CCP will make a game that catches the atmosphere of the game environment but in the end their (CCP) current style of running their business will mess up that product as well. Die hard fans of the genre will criticise CCP for ruining the game to milk morons to finance their next project.

I see nothing wrong with how CCP is running their business so far other then the normal problems that MMO developers run into with content simply not being delivered fast enough. Not even Blizzard can keep up with the rate that their players play.
Of course, the Eve Online community is without a doubt the first time I have ever seen some in the community become shocked and appalled by the notion that the developers are using subscription funds to fund other games where in other communities this sort of behaviour by developers is considered normal and expected.

I'd buy Dust514 if they released it for the PC with a suitable control scheme.
I won't buy it for any console whatsoever.

If they won't release it for PC, then I won't cry a tear though.
I'd be pleased to see it, but to me the probability of that happening is about 5%, and certainly not simultaneously with the console release.

I don't own a ps3, and I won't be making dust the reason to buy one. I will however buy dust for PC, or at least strive to make it work on a PS3 emulator.

- Expect WoD to do better than EVE.

- One massive advantage the PS3 has over the PC is set hardware. 1 video card, 1 cpu, 1 amount of ram etc.

There is no "vampire hype" that CCP is vying on, it's the WoD vampire RP communities that have been continually active but for the most part lying low for the last decade really. They hate Twilight as much as we do too. Just look up some of the history of WhiteWolf the company that CCP acquired a while back....

This. Eve players are the most entitled bunch of aspies this side of the Milky Way. Not only do they want everything for almost nothing, but they also expect to be able to tell the company what to do with the pittance they DO shell out, and that's assuming they're not paying in isk.

As far as Dust goes, CCP mentioned a while back that the decision to go to console was because they didn't want the same players doing all the work. They wanted a cross-genre cooperative movement, rather than eve players providing orbital fire support and supply drops to their Dust alts on the ground. Microsoft backed down on Dust, because it would have been too much work for what is, in their minds, a very ambitious project.

So from what I can figure Dust 514 will be a straight console game on the worst console known to man.. No PC? No 360? WTF is dust 514 if you cant play it on Kinect? Mainly all I care about is that it will be on PC, could really care less about console games

PS. Ps3 = epic fail.

Considering that console games on the average last a year at most, they aren't really planning on EVE or DUST lasting past the release of WoD. That's my opinion anyway.

I absolutely love the idea of the game, and always play some kind of FPS when taking a break from EvE. I was pretty disappointed (2?) years ago when they first announced Dust would be console only, as I'm a PC gamer all the way. Thankfully I didn't purchase a 360 since then, as I'd be doubly pissed. I STILL haven't bought a PS3, waiting for information to leak that there might be a PC release date shortly after the PS3 sales starts to slow down.

I've seen every video released with interviews about Dust. Each time the interviewer asks a CCP Dev about whether the game will eventually release on PC, their response is: "We are focused on the PS3 exclusivity, but who knows what the future might bring." [paraphrased]. So I assume there will ultimately be a PC release, but I think I'm too excited for the game to wait that long.

My only hope is that micro transactions in that game aren't going to be pay-to-win, and that the gear/vehicles/weapons are all build-able from EvE and from Dust from existing processes and materials and not just manifested from a NeX store. If they do that, I know several of my buddies that won't even give the game a chance, and it might include myself. ESPECIALLY if the crap is priced 10x what I'd prob b okay paying, like the current NeX. I mean, FFS, if they made all this NeX crap 1/10 the price, and allowed it to be destructible, I'd totally embrace it.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

Nope, not python. It will, however, be able to communicate to the EVE servers. I heard it was going to be on the Unreal engine.

It's not that CCP is using Eve subs to pay for development of other games. The problem is that CCP is completely ignoring Eve to focus on two games most Eve players don't care about. If they were keeping on top of actual Eve content and fixes I wouldn't care where my subscription money went but since Eve is suffering as a result of neglect and lack of focus it makes me bitter to pay for dev time on a console shooter that is destined to fail and a Twilight mmo that I will never play.
