Eve is pretty!

I do not have a high end computer and graphic card combination - what I have works.

While going through my "daily routine" in the game, I stopped to just look around at the universe. I never really paid attention to how a planet will have a thin layer of an atmosphere when you are near it. Or how the different rocks will spin in different directions in an asteroid belt. Or idling in a belt and seeing a planet nearby partially in darkness while the sun is shining on the other half. How the "skies" are filled with stars upon stars and the colorful nebula gases swirl through them. Or how looking really close at your ship and seeing the little details of appearing to have been built in sections.

Reading these forums, I see plenty of bickering. I thought a small post about something nice would break the monotony of mire around here.

Eve is pretty... but she is a cruel cruel mistress.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I too have been taking little side trips to the celestrial beacons found all over the place. Many times there's a pop up message that tells a little history about what the beacon is there for. And yes just looking at the planets, stars, everything is surreal and beautiful.

It is pretty. I've only got a few people to try Eve, and although they didn't really get into it, they all remarked how much they liked the graphics.

Someone should do a screenshot competition, haven't seen one for ages.

As someone who shamefully owns a mac I do sometimes treat myself to a quick moment of high graphics settings. This game sure is beautiful, but after 60 seconds I could cook bacon on the bottom of my MacBook.

I really hope you have a properly tanked mining barge just because there are thousands of folks that love busting balloons of happiness over there...

Anyways, the fireworks are wonderful as well.

While you are looking at all the pretty things, someone is scanning or probing you because they like pretty explosions.

"EVE is pretty" is an understatement IMO. EVE is stunningly gorgeous, like that girlfriend you never thought you'd get but turns out to be a crazy ***** who keeps trying to stab you in the eyes with scissors, but you stick around anyway cuz crazy or not, you'll probably never have a shot like this again....

Essentially EVE is Catherine Tramell in game form. Superficially alluring, but emotionally barren and likely to insert an ice pick into your head once she's had her way with you.

I love sitting cloaked adrift in space admiring the things you speak of.

I've been playing since '08. While 6.5 years is nothing compared to some people, I was around long before the star gates pointed to the correct star, and long before you could show your route as a faint line among the connecting stars in the backdrop of the now high resolution space and nebulae backgrounds. These two illusions greatly aid the feeling of being apart of a connecting universe. While the star the star gate points to might just be a pixel flicker on a image map, it still greatly increases the feeling of being apart of something... huge. Sitting there while Red Glowing Dust plays and taking it all in...

Then an explorer warps into the site I'm sitting cloaked in, that "pop" of an additional object on the overview makes my gleeful heart skip a beat, and all of that rushes away and is replaced with an adrenaline dump as I drop cloak, lock up, and release the missiles.

EVE is great. Beautiful, harsh, menacing, and great.
