So for a Venture a potential player, a Trial Account user needs:

Mining III
Mining Upgrades I
Afterburner I
Shield Operation I
Mining Frigate I
Drones I
Drones II
Drones III
Light Drone Operation I

7 unique skills, 9 skill levels; Total time: 9 hours, 21 minutes, 10 seconds

plus another 9 hours to get Mining Frigate III

I think that is not a newbie friendly in any way ...

It could be 10 or 5 years ago but not now.

I highlighted the only actual requirement that a player doesn't have at character creation to fly AND use a venture to mine. It isn't hours to learn, it is less than 15 minutes. If someone can't wait a few minutes in a game that they may well be playing for who knows how many years, then they shouldn't be playing it.

Tell you what, would you write to Blizzard and tell them that WoW characters should start out at level 60 insted of level 1, because players shouldn't have to learn how to play the game before they play with the guys who have already plyed it for years?

You can already purchase a level 90 boost, so that's too late.
Lets not let EVE take the same path, okay?

@OP
You speak about new alts being created, gaining a boost to catch up with the main even faster
We talk about new player experience, how it will impact them if they gained an overwhelming start (and yes, I do think that 900k or 600k is an overwhelming start). What I picture in my head, is new players suddenly starting to ask why they start with X skill and not with Y skill, like they are meant to start at X as their first choice.
Right now, they start with the very basic skill set, no start setup within 1 or multiple careers/roles, which then can be gained by gaining skullbooks and starting experience by the career agents. Surely they are not tiptop informative, but I don't see how a higher skillpoint start will fix that. And if they start with some roles, why not all roles? Suddenly you can fly a Logi perfectly in 2-3 weeks, and where's the sense of progression then?

If the suggestion then suddely goes to only affect alts, then why should alts have an advantage over new players?

Thats not really true OP.
My girlfriend skilled for the venture on her first day and was able to mine 10mil worth of ore. On her first day.
Second day she is flying a kestrel and doing missions. One shoting every rat frigate.

You are just doing something wrong.

Really? Well, if it's for real cash then I suppose the equivelant would be buying characters for plex, which is already available.

Well yeah, it is with real cash, but you don't purchase a character someone else spent time on (like in EVE) that has followed the same rules all the time, it's just a brand character that gets a boost.

1. She was limited to 1.0 system, there are no rats at belts. She also was slowboating to asteroid mining what was closer not what was more valuable.

2. What she did with that 10 millions ? Did she bought a cruiser ?

Did you noticed that it was her only useful ability for first days of game ? Even that very limited ability to mine was not right of the box but required time to skill up.

Don't you see that this isn't proof that actual system is good. It's otherwise.

What else she was able to do ?

YAY! let's throw all new players into a random system in null sec, they don't need to learn the game because we gave them 900k SP. They'll be alright.

SP directly reflects the learning curve for most new players. Don't bombard them with **** they don't understand the moment they log in because that immediately alienates them. There is already a huge amount of information being forced down a new player's throat when they log in to Eve because Eve does not follow any of the precedents they have been taught are standard between 98% of the other MMO's out there.

If your argument was truly for the benefit of new players, you would not have said a single word of what I just quoted above.

Are you a forum alt? Have you ever wondered why your experience on the forums is always so frustrating and unrewarding? This may help.

And how will a higher SP start fix that? They will still need the ISK to start up, which is what new players does. Mining/Missions at a low level, to save up for the bigger stuff while training. Higher SP wont change that by any significant amount, other than players feeling behind compared to what their skills allow them.
Also, mining the closest instead of most valueable isn't something more SP will fix
