What is CCP's current stance on 'capital power projection' in EVE?

Can someone with official CCP employee status please comment on this?

It's a major obstacle for smaller entities, not being able to at least get a foot inside the door, before getting anally enlarged.

Players in NPC cannot hold SOV so you are out of luck.

Well, looking at the most recent changes, their stance would appear to be "it should use more fuel".

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

"Power Projection" has become the biggest 'scape goat' in EVE. many 'smaller groups' failings have nothing at all to do with some larger groups ability to move across the map quickly. It has everything to do with the small group wanting to stay a small group but not understanding that SOV null sec is large group territory, unlike the entire rest of EVE space.

You can do the exact same thing the larger (ie control distant space) with Jump Clones, Alts, Allies, in some cases wormholes and Mercenaries.

As will all such hatreds that people rely on, there is never any mention of the positive aspects of the thing they hate. Such as the fact that several major (and real world news worthy) events would not have happened without power projection. There is also the possible consequence of 'nerfing' power projection of an economic downturn of EVE's economy (which is tuned to a certain rate of destruction that is only possible if opposing groups of players with capital ships can get at each other easily).

Back in the day, players were SURE that null sec's problem was it's pos based sov system. CCP changed it and everyone rejoiced at how cool the new SOV system was........... till they realized that nothing had changed and in fact may have gotten worse. And yet here we are, 11 years into the game and some people STILL think one issue (now 'power projection') is some kind of linch pin that if it could just be 'fixed', something that has NEVER been true can happen. That something being 'my small group can claim some SOV'.

I wish CCP would nerf power projection just so we could see what new scape goat the unsuccessful and uncreative 'we're a small group' types could come up with.

Is that the video you had to watch when you QQ'd over siphons, when you QQ'd over drone assist, when you QQ'd over dog piling war decs ..... whn you QQ'd over any mechanics changes that might impact your game?

This game balance is a curious thing.

Yeah, but if it's the same volume of fuel, is that really more? The real stance was "It should cost more ISK.", which frankly, is about as much a solution to the problem as pink hair.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

From the looks of it, they are going to ensure that power continues to be projected straight up (our arses). Shocked

Well... At least let us attack stuff before getting shafted.

SBU's are a terrible game design and the game designer that thought up the idea in the first place should be ashamed.

Such a buzz kill, SBU's are.

You can already see what happens when power projection gets nerfed severely...
W-space is kind of the extreme opposite to the current state of power projection in k-space: no cynos and even 'gate' travel is severely restricted. (Not just the mass restrictions, but also that you can't easily travel to a specific system at any given time)

What do we have in w-space? Right! Small corporations being able to 'own' systems. Sure, the larger corporations can evict them from their system, but they usually don't. Why don't they?
Well, for one there isn't much of a reason to take systems that you are not going to use. In contrast to null sec an empty system in w-space isn't owned by anyone.
Second reason is the nerfed power projection: You can't hold large amounts of systems in w-space without spreading your forces among them - which in turn makes those systems more vulnerable. As a result you only stick to the systems that you are actually using.

I'm not saying that this extreme sort of power projection nerf would be a good thing for null, but it gives you a hint in what direction it could push null sec.

funny, i didn't qq over any of those.

maybe drone assist, because there were other ways to achieve it that went totally ignored but that's not exacly qqing when you're pointing out that something can be done better than their half arsed idea. i didn't disagree with drone assist, i just wanted them to do it properly. *shrug*
