Currently on a Verizon DSL here of 15Mbps.

Living in the middle of nowhere, pings don't drop below 700ms and down and upload speeds are terrible.

Yet never got disconnected so far.

Hell, I've even played EVE at home through a 2G and 3G connection when my ISP at home went down.

Well, if you're too lazy to find out where the actual issue is... I'm too lazy to care. Blink

U can test alot of things, like a fixed cable, if u wireless. Or ask your neugbour for his net pw for a few days , to just try, set up a modem with your cell phone to try,

If u get kicked that often get it on another connection, just to test , cause if u get good connection anywhere else u know its somewhere in your network.

Sucks majorly u cant play eve due to a connection issue, i feel with you, not much else then trial and error we can advice form here

120Mb connection, not wireless, no issues with any other game online. I come back after three years away and get kicked out every 15 minutes just like the good old days. Not much changes around here I see.

By then.

No you still can't have my stuff.

Step 1:
Remove any routers, hubs, modems in between you and ze plug

Step 2:
Test this ...

Step 3:
If it works you know it's a configuration you must peform within your network.

Step 4:
If it fails, grab the phone and call up your ISP.

Step 5:
Contract me all your stuff, immediately ...

Obviously not a forum / spy / market alt ...

There's a 38 page thread on the closed socket error. Plenty of people with this error, I have it as well. I have tons of online games and other online services and EVE is the only one that disconnects. I'm pretty sure the fault lies with EVE then.
And don't give me the "it's not because everything else works that it's not your fault' -bullshit.

I get the socket closed disconnect sometimes up to 5+ times a day. On Virgin Media. On a big fat pipe that is stable for every other application/service I run. I used to get it a lot with another ISP. Most days I get none.

Not CCP's problem. ISP/network problem.

If your ISP can't fix it...switch.

Sorry to hear you're still having issues, but sadly this is our of our control.

Good reference from our GM Team has already been posted in this thread, so I won't re-link it, but it might be an idea to call your ISP and speak to them about the issue and if anything can be done to solve it.

Hope you get it fixed, either way Smile

Had the same issue when i was on VM 30mb connection back in the day. It was fixed after messing with my router whilst I was speaking with tech support.

That was a couple of years ago now.

Oh and the 120mb broadband package was due to the ''Doubling up'' campaign that VM started last year 30mb became 50mb, 50mb became 100mb and people paying for 100mb went up to 120mb. Not quite double but it was whilst they launched their new super hub model to force it further in front on BT's 4th generation hub.

iirc they are upgrading speeds again soon to 60/120/150 over the course of the next year....

Ring VM inside business hours they should be able to assist you.

My comnection feels pretty stable...I run eve fine. But when I run with 3 clients at the same time.poof socket closed. I've almost lost a 6bil dread multiple times now...I don't use isoboxer cuz I play eve like a man.
Bought a new video card..still happens.
Do I need to dl that program or is it another issue since it runs fine with less than 3 clients.

router is probably blocking too many connections to a single port?

I used to have this problem while living in the dorms at my college. Turns out it was related to their IPS device, specifically by TippingPoint. I knew it was a network packet scanning problem since I never experienced any trouble by using a VPN proxy/sock connection over SSL. After contacting the college's IT team and some testing, we discovered I was indeed correct.

Apparently EVE packets were triggering this rule on their TippingPoint IPS:

Quote:
Device: TippingPoint IPS
Filter: 7120: TCP: Segment Overlap With Different Data, e.g., Fragroute
Filter Details: This filter detects overlapping TCP segments in which the overlapping data is different. This filter does not cover TCP keep-alive messages with 1 garbage octet (RFC 1122). To detect TCP keep-alive messages with 1 garbage octet, use filter 7122.

Adding the TQ server ( 87.237.38.200 ) to their whitelist resolved the problems immediately.

I don't know what kind of network you connect from, but you may want to check with whoever manages it, or your ISP in case they have something similar in place.

All trolling aside, there have been more closed socket issues lately.

Yes, yes I am. Thanks for noticing.

Whatever u guys did cause this issues. I have 2 game window open weirdly one of them drops by saying socket error time time while playing. I think stability of the connection is dropped after update.

I have 200MPS internet no joke speeds 15ping to google.com contant between 15-20ping.

If u telling me i have cutting edge internet, cutting edge modem and you telling me there is port problem bla bla. Then I think it is your eve online has problem that doesn't work with our equipment.

Socket closed bye :P

Guys also I talk to lot of my corp mates they having similiar issues most of them Windows 8.1 64Bit please mention what is your operating system thank you.

I typed this and in 20 minutes i got 2 socket close.

Either that or your switching is missing, off, or broken. Routers have switches built in and I have seen those fail while overall the router still worked.
