How much VRAM for 3x maxed out clients?

Hi all

I'm building a new rig and considering either the 3GB nVidia 780Ti or the 6GB nVidia 780.

I want to run 3 clients at 2560x1080 with all graphics settings on max.

My question is, using 3 clients will I run out of VRAM on the 780Ti?

I am using a GTX580 at the moment which only has 1.5GB and it can't handle 3 clients maxed. It runs fine with some settings reduced or off (AA, HDR, resource cache etc).

The rest of the rig will be nice and quick - i7 4790k, 16GB ram etc.

Thanks

I got a gigabyte 780 ghz edition with a 2560x1440p resolution screen. And It runs perfectly fine. I believe it uses up to 1.4-1.5 gb vram.. I can check for you tho, I'll come with an update later today.

edit: Okay, so i tested it now.

1. first client in station
2. second flying about in space
3. third undocking at jita and flying around abit.

It tops off at 2gb of ram usage, which i think is okay.
it also tops off at 60 fps(which is the limit because of interval one)

You might get better graphic card for the bucks by choosing a gigabyte 780 ghz edition it's almost as fast as the 780ti edition(reference models) but is infinitely more quiet..

i can barely hear mine, where my 680 sounded like a vacuum cleaner compared to.

Gl with the buy.

Have a 780ti and it should be ok. You might run into framerate drops(dropping to 30) though running 3 clients in stressing situations. Those bloody gas clouds for one.

The 780 isnt nearly as fast as the 780ti...

No, not the reference models. However some 780's come pre-overclocked and almost(i did write almost earlier aswell) match the speed of the 780ti.

Edit; and i way cheaper, and as i mentioned much more quiet.

Thanks guys.

I think I'll go with the 780Ti then if VRAM isn't an issue for 3 clients with 3GB. I know it's less bangs per buck, but it's more bangs overall Lol

That was exactly my logic when choosing it over the 780.

You're probably going to need to download some more RAM.

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

I run 4 clients at a time on high detail/video settings, or 11 on med-low on a radeon 6870 1gig, i7 920 w/ 12gigs of ram that is a few years ago, without overclocking or bad framerate ratios. You'll be absolutely fine to do what you want without that kind of video card, short of all 3 being fully zoomed in and recording at the same time.

Thanks Arronicus.

The plan is to run all 3 clients on absolute max settings at 2560x1080. My biggest concern was that 3GB of VRAM wouldn't be enough and I'd experience some serious slow-down despite shelling out for one of the best cards money can buy.

I can't see me running more than 3 clients simultaneously. The rest of the system will be plenty fast enough (Intel i7 4790K, 16GB ram @ 2400MHz, Samsung SSD for Windows and games drive).

So if 3GB of VRAM can handle 3x maxed out Eve clients, I'll be one happy bunny :)
