I knew it would. It happens to everyone eventually.

I lost a mining barge in Abduban.

After I managed to escape with a smoking bullet-ridden escape pod, I thanked the pirates for making my mining experience an interesting one, went back for my jettisoned ice, salvaged what was left of my barge, and then set about deciding what to do next.

There's just no point in getting pissed about this. That ship cost 38 million ISK and has made me so much more! I don't have a lot of money compared to most, but I can easily pick up a new ship or simply start flying my spare.

And now I can say that my day wasn't a boring one!

All the world's a stage and all the men and women are the players.

Welcome to EVE, now those pirates will likely report your defeat to their group, and that number, even though just one, will be factored into their computations for whatever campaign they are in the middle of. Then, their campaign changes will possibly influence the outcome of the greater ongoing war between the coalitions and result in much tears, blog posts, youtube videos, news posts, forum posts, etc.

Ain't the Butterfly Effect great?

The one time I got targeted in an ice belt, I warped off before they warped in and when I came back they ganked someone else.

Though they were pretty obvious about it, frigate scout scanning barges openly and talking in local. They still got one. Tells a story about the attention miners pay to their surroundings.

What, that Industrial I lost years ago? I wasn't mining with that ship- it was just a freighter. That event was a whole other story and when I hopped into my destroyer and tracked him down, I sent him running. Back then you could log off in combat and vanish at high warp. If he hadn't logged, I would have taken his ship and his pod.

He attacked me because I had taken his jettisoned ore. What? I had bills to pay! That was long before I had begun mining and was pretty early in my career.

Create -> Destroy

Repeat ad infinitum.

The sooner you realize that loss is a necessary part of the experience that EVE is, the sooner you can go with the flow and play the game as it is meant to be played: As a sandbox where members are encouraged to throw sand at each other.

Killboard is wrong. I'm right.

I don't know what happened, but it obviously grabbed the wrong information. Of course, I can't change it. It says on the front page that you're not allowed to manually add or change anything.

I'm going to log on after this post, grab screenshots of Eve Mail, ship Insurance, and Kill rights of the entire group that destroyed my mining barge.

I'm going to log on after this post, grab screenshots of Eve Mail, ship Insurance, and Kill rights of the entire group that destroyed my mining barge. Do you think they would have gotten Concorded just for an escape pod?

I can tolerate a great many thins, but I've never enjoyed being considered a liar. I'll prove my story.

Turning on a hostile module on ANY player who is not suspect, a war target, or under a limited engagement timer with you in high-sec results in the attacking being killed by CONCORD after an amount of time that depends on many factors. Does not matter if the player that got aggressed is in a escape pod, a mining barge, or any other ship type.

I think the issue here is that the loss you claim does not appear on zkill board. In game killmails can be faked by messing with the XML a bit, it's nothing fancy. All you need to do to prove your loss is open your combat log, select losses, and double click the ship that was destroyed. Up in the top left corner there is a little options icon, click it - and select copy external kill link.

Now, head to zkillboard.com - click post, and paste the URL into the URL box and click submit. Once zkillboard gets caught up with things (sometimes takes a few mins!) the loss will appear on zkill as a CREST verified killmail and you can rest happy knowing that you proved your story :) Screenshots of Eve Mail, Insurance and Kill Rights are totally not needed, and if you really wanted to be super clever about it - could also be faked. Just upload the loss to zkill.
