Pator residents react coolly to Federal fashion charity

As reported by Gutter Press, Federal socialites organised a charity fashion relief effort, sending high-fashion apparel to Pator.

A small number of Gallente ships, including capsuleer vessels, conveyed the clothes and a number of other donations to Pator. These other donations included holoreels, body lotion, genuine Gallente Prime mud, all intended to convey support and admiration to the Minmatar people.

The garments were recently cleared by customs, and were distributed through several of the caravanserei on Matar.

Many Matar citizens were confused by the nature of the garments.

"Do you wear this under something else ?" asked one woman, a Sebiestor starship mechanic.
"I think you wear it on top of something?" said another Sebiestor woman.
"Looks flimsier than it really is. Interesting material", said a Sebiestor electronics salesperson.
"And you say Gallente women wear this in public ? By the spirits, it must be warm on Gallente Prime", said a Sebiestor Northerner travelling merchant.

The other donations also provoked a variety of comment from the populace.
"What do those Gallente expect us to do with 100-gallon barrels of mud?" asked one Sebiestor exotic dancer.
"Mud ? Is there a shortage ?" asked another Sebiestor, incredulously.
"Gallente body lotion is all well and good, but why do they have to have all these strange perfumes in it?" asked another Sebiestor woman.

While most Matar citizens were nonplussed by the relief efforts, there were a few who were very pleased.
"Oh, my, spirits, this is simply fab-u-lous!" exclaimed one Brutor man. "My wife lost her spleen on active service with the TLF, so I took up exotic dancing to support our family, and this! this dress is divine! It is exactly what I need for my routine! Thank you Gallente socialites!"
"So, Gallente socialites are into mud baths for their skin, eh? Well, that gives me a few ideas, say... do you know any starships going to Luminaire? I could organise a shipment of top-quality Mirkamurka mud, it has incredible healing properties, you know. Ten thousand ISK a litre, I think.", said one crafty Sebiestor trader.
"I'm just pleased there wasn't another farcical battle in space over this sort of thing", said one woman. "We have more important concerns, such as the wars."

Gutter Press will continue to keep an eye on fashion developments.

Those Minmatar don't need fashion advice from a bunch of socialites who think that true fashion is to be as gaudy, garish and outrageous as possible. I bet they would appreciate the commanding presence a well-tailored Caldari suit offers much more.

I admit I at least would have appreciated some of these things, when I was living in a rust quarter in the Republic. Good clothing and beauty products aren't cheap.

I concur. A 50ml bottle of sunblock costs as much as a gallon of Quafe-based industrial-grade detergent where I came from. We could get anti-radiation screens for much cheaper even.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

A proper mud wrap or bath is actually quite hygenic and good for your skin and health. You wash the mud off when you're done, obviously, just like you rinse shampoo out of your hair or soap off of your skin when you're showering.

I've heard from the well-informed people that most of the "authentic mineral-rich mud from the geysers of Intaki Prime" used in beauty salons in Orvolle is, in fact, furrier droppings. Dunno about the authentic mud from Gallente Prime, but i'd be cautious about what organic substances someone smears over your skin.

I'm imagining you in nothing but mud right now. Oh yeah

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

I have a good Caldari suit that's not only stylish (as opposed to fashionable) but can stop small arms fire. I must admit that when I dress for effect I do go for a Gallentean tailored suit, though.

I'm glad to hear there's an attempt at some more positive relationship building between the Federation and the Republic, even if the relief wasn't received entirely well. Gallente fashion can span from breathtaking to even more gaudy than that new Amarrian coat - you know the one.

Some people like to enjoy themselves, as it turns out. While everyone's entitled to their own opinion, it doesn't necessarily make them right. Visit the Vylade system, sometime; you'll get the ostentatious fashion as well as the actual fashion, since it's one of the busiest places for clothing and otherwise. You could probably get some industrial-strength starch for your Caldari suits at discount.

I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me.
