What does that even mean? Also, how did you actually like that ship prior to redesign? Better because it was a random lopsided hodgepodge of geometry?

A hodgepodge of geometry makes much more sense than a Macy's parade balloon. At least you can point at the function over form of the caldari stations for the old model.

Heck even the gal don't just make a giant animal plushy and launch it into space.

And as to the route 66 hotel reference, it touches back to an age of Americana where theme hotels diners and other tourist attractions were often inside huge concrete dinosaur or some such.

A counterpoint to that is that the old scorp was the same thing, only without the other half. So what we have isn't something functional vs a parade float, it's half a parade float vs a whole parade float. I prefer the whole float.

On that point I will concede it is the splitting of hairs. But the post change is a bit over the top don't you think? Even just keeping it blocky symmetric would have been a better compromise in my book.

Yeah, I'll grant that point. the wing being made into almost visible "pincers" is perhaps a bit much.

While I agree that they were unique, they were not necessarily good designs, especially not the Moa. That being said, I do agree that they could benefit from being less generic, and the same applies to the Scorpion. Lovely redesign, but I did quite like the off-center appearance of the old version.

The new Tempest is a really nice redesign while still retaining the identity of the old one, even if it's toned down somewhat.

To you and the others spewing this "WAAAHHH OCD PEOPLE" nonsense: I don't really appreciate having insults slung at me because I happened to dislike the Moa looking utterly ridiculous and nonsensical.

I'm so very sorry for thinking that "character" (whatever that even means) doesn't make up for something being hideous.

The Condor on the other hand I actually wasn't too fussed about the old model, but hey the new one is nice so win-win here.

Looks are subjective, you say the old Moa looks ridiculous and nonsensical, I think it looked unique and special. You think the new Moa is an improvement but I think the new Moa looks like a down-syndrome bird and is hideous. I blame the symmetrical OCD people because pretty much every new ship model change changes them from being asymmetrical to symmetrical, so I'm not just pointing fingers because I'm butthurt, I'm pointing fingers at the people I think are responsible for ruining (in my opinion) ships that already looked good.

Yes, yes they are indeed subjective. I happened to hate the old model with a passion, some people liked it. Fair enough really.

What I didn't do is start flinging accusations and insults at anyone who did like the old model, and dismissing their opinions as "OMG OCDDDDD" is hardly a mature response now is it?

Evidently enough people hated the old one that CCP saw it as worth changing. Hate to say it but the ones who liked the old model seem to be a minority, especially in the few threads I've seen over the years polling "least favorite ship models" (where the Moa and the Dominix were quite consistently the frontrunners.)

Edit: By the way, this is coming from someone who regards the Raven as one of their favorite hulls. Symmetry is not that important a factor to me.

Strange though ccp seem to be changing the nice looking ships (no one ever complained about the crucifier) whilst they continue to ignore the blackbird.
