That explains the love of beer, how do you feel about chocolate?

These days, not so much, but see comment above - I'd still give anything for one more of my grandmother's chocoloate seashells.

I must admit to being rather partial to anything produced by these people

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Zee germans have the best road system in the world. Unlimited POWER on the highway. brilliant quality roads. Healthcare is awesome. Social security is good but not stifling. They have a fast growing alt energy sector. German built is a byword for quality, longevity and sophistication all over the world.

All supported by high taxes.

American roads are shabby at best. Healthcare is the most expensive per capita with the worst results in the world: they pay the most and get the least bang per buck. Social security = communism and unamerican. Also, highest incarceration rate, incentivised by private prisons. They have a fast growing government subsidy sector, TARP (slowing it down now though). Made in America is a byword for Internet Meme's and 'Murica quotes the world over.

All supported by low taxes.

Also: America's national dishes? They come from ZEE GERMANS! Hot dogs. Burgers. Frankfurt. Hamburg.

Boom. Thread asploded. What win. Much trollage.

And I'm not even a German!

Additionally, I see people speaking of Teh Beerz!

I vehemently do NOT agree Belgian Beer is the best.

Every country has it's own delights. Much like in the wonderful world of wine. Comparing German wine to French wine doesn't really make a lot of sense: they make wildly different wines. Even comparing an Alsace/Elzas Riesling to a Mosel Riesling: worlds apart. Hence choosing a 'best' is ridiculous. The premier grand cru's of Bordeaux are simply based on who could ask the most for their wine at the time. Not something that had a lot to do with quality, imho, more so that it was easy for the English (who are still addicted to their claret) to ship the stuff from Bordeaux to the UK, hence premium price. When **** hit the fan, they simply moved south to Rioja to get their wine. Hence quality there also.

In a sense then, it's the English the French have to thank for their Wine rep ;-)

Same goes for beer: Belgians are beer gods of course, but German styles run the entire gamut from light and crisp to heady and heavy. I love the Weiss beers, and the lovely styles. English gave the world IPA. I love that stuff. yum.

Even Americans (miller lite - FAIL) are making all kinds of amazing microbrewery and artisanal beer nobody in the EU has ever heard of. Scots with Brew Dog make some wonderful stuff. Even here in Rotterdam we have Carrie from the Kaapse Brouwers, which is a gorgeous IPA.

Let's talk about Beer more! And how Germany rocks ;-)

Once again, everything is relative...

If only there was a country where infrastructure was better than Germany, tax was much lower, chocolate was better than the Belgian one...

But yeah, Belgian beer rules supreme!

On the internet, you can be whatever you want to be. It is amazing that so many people chose to be stupid.

Why does there always need to be someone better? Someone is going to be the best at something, one way or another, otherwise there's no benchmark for better to begin with.
