Don't swear at me like that.

Foster's is the worst pisswater there is. Luckily, we just export it to everywhere else. No one drinks it in Oz.

Australia would like to officially apologise for Fosters but rejects any responsibility for the effects of your choice to consume it P

Seriously, come to Australia one day, and I'll shout you a real beer personally.

Once, many more year than I care to count, I tried it

I immeadiately swore that I would vilifiy anyone who came out as an apologist for Foster's or as I call them "Fosterscaust Denier"

Oddly, you can't get Castlemaine anymore that I can see.

It's hard now to understand how it was our No. 1 selling beer in the 80's (other than it being the 80's where everything was a bit strange).

Castlemaine is one of two Australian companies that between them pretty much own all the beer brands in the country. Castlemaine is responsible for XXXX (four-x), the other terrible Australian beer alongside VB and Fosters. They're also now a Japanese controlled entity, which explains the bad beer.

Australia's best beers, IMO, are Carlton, Toohey's, Hahn and Crown, Crown Lager being my personal favourite.

Including me Lol

I think it was No. 1 because at the time, it was our only export beer, so it just had more customers.

Oh ****, I nearly left one of our best beers off the list. They're a microbrewery called Bluetongue, in Warnervale NSW. They also make some great lagers and if you want an alternative to American microbrewery ales, which I'll admit can actually be quite nice, Bluetongue have got you covered with much better.

All this talk about beer.... It's only 8:30pm, and on a Friday night to boot, there WILL be a bottle-o open somewhere. Back in a jiffy.

Having said that: RL German tax rates are higher than those in some English-speaking countries. This presumably influences the perception of what a reasonable tax rate is in general.

ROFL! Functional infrastructure and efficiency! Well, let us agree that everything is relative...

Yet, me too I think Germans are used from RL to pay high taxes, --- and to receive nothing in return for it. Besides having their income heavily taxed, they happily go along with a 19% VAT.

They do have some of the best public services in the world, so I wouldn't say they receive nothing in return for it. As an English person, we pay VAT at 20%, and we probably get a lot worse services than what they have in Germany, because the governments have to stealth tax everyone through the back door to get the funds they need for the services everyone expects but are too much of a miser to want to pay for it directly out of income tax. Germans probably realise this which is why they are more happy to pay for it.

Also I am very sure it does have something to do with the German obsession of achieving maximum efficiency.

I personally dream of a day where the only conflict in the world is arguments over who has the best beer. War would be forgotten because we'd all be too busy taste testing the next great brew.

Yeah, cos the Irish, the Australians and the Germans are known for never fighting over anything, especially after a few tinnies ;)

Yeah but after a few fists fly, we're all good mates again by the end of it as if nothing happened Lol

And it's definitely never over the beer. Unless you spill one, then it's always over the beer.

Aye, you're right there

Awk it was good of the English to put Scots and Irish all over the world to improve the beer and the camaderie, wasn't it

At least they did that right

There can be no doubt. It's the Belgians.

They win the beer war.

Nope, chocolate. Belgian chocolates = best chocolates. My grandmother used to make them fresh for me and my siblings when we were kids.
