How rare are good trading characters?

Hi MD elite and various unwashed masses!

I have a long-time friend and corpmate bean-counter who is leaving the game and offered to sell me one of his trading alts for essentially peanuts (price of the transfer + doing him the favor of helping evac his **** to highsec). I'm not one for market pvp or carebearing so I don't know much about this type of thing, but I do imagine I could flip his character on the bazaar for a nice profit. The question is, how much can I expect to roll in? The character has 10/10 standing with both caldari/navy and amarr/emperor family.

Anyone care to ballpark me on this? Does't have much SP aside from trade skills and appears to fly some drone boats and a blockade runner.

Depends on the specifics, I'd be interested. If you auction it I presume it would fetch a good price. I'm not going to tell you what my max offer would be. But we are talking 10's of Billions if it has the standings as well.

10/10 with two factions and two corps is *insane*.

I know how much it took to get this character to 7.1/9.95 with just one hub and about 7.1/9.5 with a few other corps that have a lot of stations in my region. But going from 0 to 7.1 is only as much effect as 7.1 to 9.1.

Amarr and Caldari isn't all that hard. Run both their COSMOS, their data centers, epic arcs, and max out your FW rank with both. I've done this without actually finishing Amarr FW on one of my alts and it finished around 9.5 state, 7.5 navy, plus 8.35 to Amarr Empire and a host of 5s to all kinds of corps in both factions. If I finished Amarr FW I'd come in around 9.3 or so with Amarr Empire as well. Past that it's just efficient L4 grinding; pick the corp you want to grind and try to find an agent where the nearest storyline agent to it is the same corp, since storylines can be 20-30% standings bonuses to their corp.

When your faction standings are high enough, there are also turn-ins to the cosmos agents in space for faction ship BPC, for a bit of an extra bump. The frigate and battleship standings gains aren't great, but the cruiser one is, at least for Caldari.

Epic arcs are also repeatable every three months. The Caldari one is especially nice as it comes with large chunks of Navy standing on top of 12% or so overall gain for State.

I've never ground up a Gallente/Minmatar trade alt but all of the above would apply to them as well, with the caveat that their COSMOS arcs are (I think) broken or unfinished or both. On the other hand, Sisters of Eve offers derived standings to both factions, so you do have the possible route of "grind a bunch of SoE missions" to get a head start.

There's a reason why "buy a tengu pilot" isn't unreasonable if you have the money and want a new trade alt.
