At What Point Does A Topic Reach It's Final Analysis?

For the first time in my EVE career I have to pay very close mind to what I am typing.

(Thinking, deleting.... thinking... Ok ummm....)

At what point does a discussion become done? When is it necessary to only see a topic via the search function? I seem to recall a general discussion alive with the current topics of the day. Like because of Falcon as an example, shortly there after we would see an expansion that addressed the forum uproar and suggestions there in.

Since this can no longer happen... I now have serious doubts about EVE's future.

Discuss and lock. I said it as delicately as I can.

Maybe it's because I'm a bit worn out today but I just can't make any sense of what you're trying to say.

Judging by the amount of shiptoasting happening every day, I'd say Eve's future is fine.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

That is because I am tip toeing in order to start an actual conversation relevant to EVE. The way certain things are changing is bad and we should (no have to) be permitted to talk about it.

Simple answer is never, as we still discuss topics that we were discussing years ago.

So that means I can bring up AFK cloaking and discuss it?

When someone posts

/thread

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

If you still see that as an issue, why not.

I should add though, really the only time a topic becomes redundant is when the game mechanics change and that topic is no longer an issue.

Just post it. The worst that can happen is that it gets locked.

If you have something genuinely new to say on the topic, then yes. If what you have is a rehashing of the same arguments for/against that can be neatly summarized by the post in my signature, then there's no need - it's all been discussed and it wasn't enough to get CCP to make any changes to the game mechanics.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Here's an example of a topic that never gets tiring. Roll

But never gets any answers either.

I find this new way of thinking unbearable. That is never the way that it worked... we have always had to grind a topic into the ground and beat a dead horse in order to bring about change.

The problem is that dead horse is now so old and so beaten than there's no longer any fun in beating it. Even those of us who enjoy trolling the crap out of people who bring up terribad ideas groan and die a little inside when we see a new "ZOMG AFK CLOAKING!!!!!" thread. It's comedic value is limited, and we get more amusement value out of getting them locked than anything else.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

You cant take the EVE forums personally..or even seriously. Just have fun and hope to gain some knowledge concerning the game in the process.

Post discussions rather than rants disguised as ideas, and stop bawwing when they get chucked in the heap with the rest of the babbling. If you can't handle people responding negatively in discussions, start a blog or something and moderate the comments yourself.

There's an explanation in stickies at the top of F&I explaining why commonly proposed ideas are locked. The AFK cloaking thread you're referring to had a longer response than was really required, considering it's one of the most recurrent whinges. The ISDs can answer for themselves, but if you have an issue with locked threads or moderation, why don't you just petition it rather than bleating across the forums.

All you people must be new...
Maybe all of the original jaded vets actually did leave and now I am the last one.

With the exception of maybe "Mag's"

That is not a legitimate reply. It is just an all to easy answer. How do you think the Falcon rants went? Were you there to see them? How about nano's? The list goes on and on... but now it's "been going on for years and so we are done".

No Thx... I am not buying that.

Here I was thinking you were having to be careful what you said in fear of being kicked from your corporation or alliance. Then I realized you were just an npc alt.
