There is no punishment and there never will be. You have to understand EVE is not an "experiment of humanity," since no one dies in the game. In the real world you steal from me I beat you physically and you are done. In EVE everything is anonymous and hidden and you never lose anything if you're a simple "ganker." I shouldn't say that literally, you might lose five minutes of in game currency if you spend a good bit, but I am sure you get the point.

Realize also that this will never change because the destruction of expensive ships is a huge part of what keeps this game profitable to the company. If you didn't lose ships in high sec you could actually choose to NEVER lose any ships, and no one would pay $ for PLEX. Sure, sure, everyone talks about ISK per hour mining, missioning, ganking, or trading they earn and yadda yadda but the truth is PLEX is the money making process.

Ganking keeps this company alive, like it or not. Just get a third party bot to mine for you and buy PLEX with in game currency, THAT is the only real statement you can make to the company short of quitting.

That.... Is a pretty innacurate analysis of PLEX. You sell PLEX to players, who buy it with money they got doing missions, incursions or ratting. Those are the primary ways isk comes into eve. Destruction fuels the economy not because people go out and buy PLEX to rebuild what they lost, but because it removed assets which are built by players who put time and effort into creating them. Without destruction the entire economy would grind to a halt, PLEX or not. PLEX is certainly an excellent source of income for CCP, but don't mistake that for the reason ganking is allowed. (Besides it's not, we lose our ships %100 of the time during a gank) Ganking is allowed because it reinforces the theme of Eve. It is a dark and violent universe populated by immortal men and women likely driven completely insane by their dozens or even hundreds of deaths. (You can't tell me you could experience death that many times and remain sane) violence and treachery are the core of what Eve IS, without them it wouldn't even be Eve. Ganking is simply one manifestation of that violence, and exactly the sort of thing CCP always wanted to see in this universe they created. Ganking isn't going to stop, but PLEX sales have nothing to do with that.

The only reason ANYTHING is allowed is because it makes someone money in real world currency. Never mistake that.

The money comes from the game world they created and allow us to play in. Even without PLEX they would make money, though obviously not as much. And they would certainly have to downsize a lot. People don't play Eve because PLEX exists, they play it because the world and game design are an elegant mixture of awesome and awful that ends up being really fun often enough to justify staying. Yes Eve exists because it makes money, as do all business ventures, but PLEX sales are not the reason ganking is allowed.

I suppose arguing about the financial makeup of the developer of the game is a waste of time.

Regardless.

The ganking situation will not change.

I would like to give you options and solutions but they are just hot air. The real choice of the game is to become one of the gankers. It's the easiest thing you'll ever do in the game and sometimes can be fun if you can take orders like a slave.

Or.... Stop flying gank-bait ships in areas where gankers frequent... Or learn how to run intel... Or just troll the crap out of them by manipulating the market to make your cargo in a T1 hauler look like it's worth a lot more than it really is, fitting a heavy tank and letting them waste 20 times the isk they get from your wreck, if they even manage to kill you. After you do this a couple times they'll start marking your name down as someone to avoid ganking.

As opposed to mindlessly running the PvE hamster wheel?

I have yet to receive any orders from Code or James 315. No one has ever told me what to do, how to do it or where to do it. I do what I want, when I want, and where I want. It just happens that what I do is in line with the sorts of things the New Order wants to see, and as so I'm a knight. I'm not sure where you're getting this idea of slavery from. I felt much more like a slave when I was living in null sec where there was pressure to participate NOW and if you didn't manage to get online that week then you and your pvp assets were probably left behind when the fleet moved to a new staging system. Believe me, I have never felt more free.

Safety is for chumps. 0.0 life was SUPER BORING. So I decided to come back to high sec and do something I never got to do in null, have fun. Now I get to push more buttons than just F1.

Wonderful, what greatness we players have achieve and which wonderful place we have created in 00 sec, right?

Oh I'm not saying 0.0 isn't awesome, and I full intend to go back there at some point. But massive fleets are boring as hell unless you're the FC (I've never FC'd huge fights so maybe they are bored too). There's nothing fun about pressing F1 in %10 tidi. The roams and small fleet skirmishes are where all the fun is, the bloc warfare is just a necessary part of the lifestyle, and it's not something I want to be involved in right now.

This thread. I, just, never.

I haven't even been able to finish reading the entire thing, but what I have read is enough to turn my stomach. A complete and utter failure on the part of the carebears to understand risk and reward. More and more of the heretical calls that High Sec space be risk free. It frightens me. A risk free High Sec would be the death of the EvE we all know and love.

There are almost too many heretics in this thread to enumerate, but chaosgrimm, I will start with you. An innocent carebear will be destroyed in your name. Sleep well, my friend.

All I got from this thread is that a certain group of players won't be happy until their ships are produced by Polaris.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Then they would complain, about the 1% hole found in all the resists. Lol
