Apart from fuel, does one differ from another in any outstanding way?

They all have identical stats for Isotope consumption/level, ship maint. bay, cargo, drone bay and corp hangar. Biggest difference would be in isotope price, so you should check the market to see which fuel ends up being cheaper. As far as moving stuff goes, they all fit the same amount.

Two factors for a suitcase. 1) what region you live in. Being able to mine up your own ice will save you tons in the long run. This is especially true if you deploy regularly.

2) Is it going to ever be more than a transport ship? Odds are good that you'll want to use it for more than just moving toys between outposts, so plan to your future cap doctrine only makes sense.

Its also worth considering if you intend to ever fly any other Jump-capable ship, since it makes life a lot easier if you aren't screwing around with multiple Isotopes (ie, if you think you might ever want to fly a Blops or Dread, make sure your carrier is the same race, so you can share/borrow isotopes between your ships, rather than having seperate piles which you cant dip in to in an emergency).

As pointed out, consider also the other capitals in the lineup if you intend to get anything other than a carrier. I would take into consideration also black ops as these are also reasonable way of taking shortcuts through space at approx 5x cheaper per ly than a carrier (depends on how far you need to go, their jump range is about half of that of the carrier).

In a nutshell - for just carrying crap around I would take at the moment minmatar, as it's fuel is approx 20% cheaper than the others.

Also a vote in the favor of min, if you have no pref or plans what so ever the dual rep bonus will make you a hero at pos rep parties.

Thank you all for the replys. The character im training will be fully support so he wont ever see consensual combat. My follow up question is how would one be fit? I would imagine it would be travel fit with anti tackle capabilities. I was leaning towards the chimera as its shield resists could help ward off tacklers while maybe throwing nanos in lows. I have to admit this is the first time im almost at a complete loss on how to fit a ship. Not surprising since I have no experience with them.

Honestly, I would train your core skills that will apply to any kind of Carrier now and wait to see what, if any shakeups the fighter change will cause for the capital meta, assuming you plan to eventually use your carrier for more than hauling.

Failing that, I would wait to see what the Crius fallout end up doing to Isotope prices.

The Chimera and Nidhoggur both run 10 to 15% cheaper.

I'm training a suitcase myself, though I plan on eventually using it for combat too.

I've read and heard two main points of view on 'hauling' carrier fits:

1) don't even bother to fit it. jump only to stations. if you mess up and get bumped out of docking range you'll probably DIAF anyway, so keep it cheap!

2) full combat fit, with self-reps and anti-tackle. if you get caught, fight and call in friends.

Sounds like minmatar one is indeed the best in that case because of cheaper fuel price. Assuming you do not fly other capitals on other mains in which case consider also if having only one fuel type to handle is viable.

As far as setup goes - go with the standard travel fit, keep it cheapi(sh).

H: Cloak, Cyno, whatever you like (smartbombs, rempote reppers are used often)
M: 100mn faction MWD, 100mn faction AF, whatever you like (tank, ECM, etc all possibilities)
L: Agility istabs, nanos, etc. Damage control can make sense.
Drones: A lot of different size ECM ones,

That is for just hopping from station to station. The agility and cloak is there in case you get a particularly bad bump, but that should not happen. 100 mn mwd can be used to get into warp in one cyckle by hitting warp and overheating it for one cycle if you really need to do a local warp for some reason (say, going to another station in the same system for some reason).

In low sec you can not be prevented from jumping out if you so desire as the invulnerability timer is 30 sec but you can jump after 15 sec. Just dont use mouse commands, ctrl + space is ok for stopping the ship though. Make the session change timer visible, throw up the cyno at destination and jump the second the session change timer is up. In null sec bubbles at undock can prevent you from jumping.

Do not ever dock in kickout station. There is few types in low sec and from player built ones the caldari one is kickout for capitals.

Edit: Or you can always fit the honor tank for strictly hauling carrier. Gives you approx 5500 m3 with cargo rigs and 6x expander II's in addition to the 10k in your fleet hangar.

Only one that doesn't work for me is the first (EVE-Uni), that needs to be copy-pasted for some reason. Maybe try copy-pasting some of the others, too? The pages do exist... Smile
