Tactical Humility

Last night, I was bested in the Ebolfer system by Thgil Goldcore and another pilot of the 24th Imperial Crusade. I must thank them for showing me the error of my tactics.

Humility applies just as much in combat as it does in social interaction. I was not humble and rushed in blasters ready, and was rewarded with four frigate losses during the defense of Ebolfer. I should have realized that a single pilot cannot take on two enemy pilots who are in equal ship classes with superior technology. So Ms. Goldcore, thank you for showing me the light (though it is not quite the light you wish to show me).

I will continue to contemplate on "tactical humility". My passions must be controlled if I am to achieve victory.

Since I have recently joined the 24th and am quite inexperienced I have pledged to use completely unmanned craft until I 'learn the ropes' as it were. There is no reason to needlessly waste lives.

As promised I have said prayers for your lost men. It saddens me to be required to kill anyone mislead from the truth of God. I would urge you accept the prayers as well. Even if you do not believe in the Amarrian God, surely you understand the sentiment.

Even still, I do believe we will meet in battle again Rek. Prayers aside, I am a tool of destruction for the Empire and will be utilized to protect it from anyone who dares threaten her. I hope God will soften your soul before his servants soften your ships.

May you learn the grace of God

If there are truly unmanned craft bar the capsuleer, I'd like to fly them. I use low-tech fittings to minimize the amount of crew needed and for economic reasons, and generally never fly anything larger than a frigate.

As for being a tool of destruction for the Empire, that much is apparent. I will defend Republic space from invasion, and the crews that sign up for duty aboard my ships have the same desire. We stand as one against the Empire. I too believe we shall meet in battle again.

For obvious reasons I will not offer you luck or pray for your success, however I do hope that you will conduct yourself with honor and not be guided by hate.

Also, for the record, most frigate class ships can be flown by one man, even a non-capsuleer. However such craft do require frequent docking and maintenance and thus cannot operate for long periods of time in hostile space. Part of the reason we disengaged last night. Although I would suggest a rotation of craft if you plan on loosing less crew. I hate to see lives needlessly lost.

I won't let hate guide me. As I said, I must temper my passions in order to be victorious.

I will implement such a plan for automation, for I've schematics to produce plenty of robotics. Additionally, in the case of Ebolfer (my home station) I really do intend to get repairs frequently. In a frigate lacking crew, I will certainly face up to any threat without thinking twice.

Rek, I've always admired your resilience, especially concerning your morale in deadly situations. I've watched you get slapped down and jump back into the fray countless times. Most pilots can't take the punishment you're able to. Never lose that quality.

It is your foolhardiness that usually causes you to wake up stationside, though.

My friends, I beg you to seek out peaceful, non-violent ways to solve your conflicts. Please. It grieves me to see any of you harmed, especially by each other.

Crucifire, I thank you for your kind words. I've found myself waking up in a new clone less frequently in past months, so maybe lessons are able to be absorbed by this thick skull after all!

Ston, non-violence cannot stop the violent threat of slavery in all of its forms. I couldn't talk the Amarr invaders out of the system; I had to take direct action with weapons.

Until the Empire is safe there is little option but to fight for it. It is a sad state that we are required to go to arms, but it is the world we live in.

Know that I do not fight out of hate or maliace. I do not hate people like Rek. He has many admirable qualities which show the strength of his people. However it saddens me how misguided and lost he and his people can be.

I will protect my lands and I believe Rek believes he is doing the same. As long as we pledge to keep unarmed civilians out of harms way we can conduct ourselves with honor.

Can those of us who weren't present during this skirmish get a link to one of those... what do you combat capsuleers call it... a killmail? Some context to put this charming war story in would be rather pleasant.

I understand the need to defend ones home and way of life. You both fight for this very same thing as I have done in the past. In the end we capsuleers perpetuate an endless cycle of destruction. The cost to us is little. The cost to others is high, blockaded systems, economic destruction, huge loss of life in the empire defense fleets.

The battlefields of the crusade are best left empty. You would both do well to redirect your energies to a common foe -Sansha has returned. The continued activity in the contested areas between empires is a huge drain on Empire assets that desperately need to be redirected to contest these ongoing Incursions.

I am delighted to see such pleasant discourse between one of my brethren and one of my enemies.

Please, do us all a favor; extend that pleasant discourse in a new direction, aimed at finding a peaceful end to all of this.

When its time to fight, fight. When its time to talk, talk. Make sure both are done for the right reasons.

Well said, Ms. Starfire. Also, I believe that since these fights are fought between capsuleers (even if they are representing the goals of their respective empires) in frigate-class vessels, the ships should be unmanned. There is no need for human beings to needlessly die over this.

I fail to see what the Amarr invaders have to do with slavery here. Unless they are enslaving people of the occupied systems ?

My wing-mate obviously is the more skilled pilot. He was helping train me though.

Anyone who believes that the 24th Imperial Crusade exists to re-enslave the Minmatar people has been watching too many holovids. The 24th's purpose is to bring order to lawless space and control strategic systems to better protect the empire. In light of the elder attack the need should be obvious.

Due to the nature of the Republic's diverse nature of opinion, reasoning is nearly impossible. I could talk with pilots like Rek, and likely it would be a very productive discourse. But such a discussion would never stop someone like Shalogorath or his brothers from their mindless slaughter. Because of this the best we can accomplish together is the agreement to reduce needless death.

I quote, from a recruitment bulletin of the 24th Imperial Crusade, " We need you to help us save the Minmatar from themselves".

Sounds like re-enslavement to me.

Don't be mistaken, we will need to control them lest we be caught off guard again. But like I said the 24th is an defensive action to strategically control systems to protect the empire. We are NOT a fleet of Sigils awaiting to carry off people.

If you pay any attention to hateful war-cries from people like Shalogorath, control is the best course of action which will lead to minimal loss of life. Before you yell and scream your ramblings about freedom, need I remind you that is the exact same strategy used by the Federation against the Caldari people.

I see no point in the Gallente-Caldari war, as I do not believe that the Federation's ideals of Liberty and Freedom are in direct conflict with the State's corporate dominance and nationalism. It honestly makes more sense that the Federation would be fighting the Empire, since they blatantly continue to violate basic humane rights by holding other humans in bondage, regardless of their treatment, much of the cruelty in slavery and as you would call 'control' or containment on occasion, is that the human spirit is boundless and seeks to be free. Just as as we grow, we no longer seek to be restricted by our mothers like we did when we were babies, the Minmatar people, like all other humans (perhaps with the exception of those willingly surrendering their freedom to Sansha's Nation), seek to have the liberty to make their life choice for themselves, and have the freedom to come and go from anywhere as they please. It is psychologically disturbing to hold another human being in confinement and bondage, regardless of his living conditions. This is my primary issue with even proper, as you call it, slavery: where the slaves are treated well and fed and clothed and bathed. Excrement covered in snow is still excrement.

Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole. And this foundation must be defended.
