Germans love...

.... High taxes as much as they love David Hasselhoff. Just curious, but is there a specific reason for this? Of course I'm talking about in EVE. Every time I check out the info of a German corp, they have a super high tax rate - by that we're talking in the 15% or greater. Their POCOs always have even higher rates, even I've seen some in the 30% bracket.

The POCOs I really don't understand, since every one that I was operating out of that were took over by Germans I've packed up shop and left, one would think it would be more beneficial to have a lower rate to attract more PI people to a system rather than a high one to drive them off - unless one is going for some sort of area domination here, but I don't see much of a push for that.

The corps too, seem really onerus on individual players. Do German corps have a lot of publicly funded benefits? Are they way more socialist (and that's not necessarily a bad thing) in their operation? Do German players cooperate more than your average EVE corps? Inquiring minds must know!

Saw the topic and my mind went straight in the gutter.

Its probably for the best that this thread didn't turn out the way I expected, as something like that would be edited and locked by the ISDs pretty quick.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Your OP somehow suggest that the taxes are used to support David Hasselhoff?

I guess you're on to something...

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Confirming that EVE Online needed another David Hasslehoff thread... and that socialists love taxes, in those immortal words from a Rolling Stone magazine article that once reported on the Swedish social system: " ... from erection to ressurrection."

As a German, I can't explain why it is this way, but it does not surprise me.

just don't mention the war.

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.

Germans love functional infrastructure. A corp that is too poor to fund ops and replace ships is … inefficient. Nothing annoys more than inefficiency.

Having said that: RL German tax rates are higher than those in some English-speaking countries. This presumably influences the perception of what a reasonable tax rate is in general.

"Enduring", "restrained" and "ample" as designations for starship components are foreign to the genre of high-tech science fiction and don’t belong in Eve Online. (And as for “scoped” …)

The German tax rates are pretty low compared to where I live.
