step 1: promote exploration so everyone jumps in. sisters LP wins, noobs sign up, new ships...yeah!
step 2: increase drop rates for faction mods, noobs win & resub, faction mod prices fall.
step 3: launch new faction drops in low sec, new low sec exploration sites, etc.
step 4: decrease high sec anom spawn rates and zero out faction drops. People that were drawn in by exploration are forced to low sec for sites/gameplay.
step 5: Same day as low sec expansion with new pirate ships/ run PLEX special...pay to win/recover losses. keep pirate spawns to minimum so everyone kills while hunting easter eggs. more isk burn.
step 6: continue high sec nerf via video poker inspired rigged game mechanics. look toward industry as next victim.

I'm not saying this is a bad play. hell, if I was CCP I would have run this play book 5 years ago. Someone's gotta finance the catch up from vampires in space and all that. That said, at least build in some sort of AI that knows I jumped 15 low sec gates to complete my expedition and I should at least be rewarded with something other than a new set of 8th tier faction jumper cables. Risk/Reward is non existent these days. Are you seeing this as well? Flame on.

EDIT: Yeah well I just now read the news of layoffs at CCP tied to WOD after I posted this. Setting this issue aside I hope those folks land awesome gigs and carry on.

How is highsec being nerfed, and what are these rigged game mechanics? What's video-poker:ish about them?
Oh, and why would they nerf industry right after having given it significant buffs?

The controllers of casinos control the payouts on all electronic games (set aside modern regulations) and if profits were low, you just pulled back on the payout frequency and amounts. Low sec is the slot machine that's rigged for profits. If you are an exploration enthusiast, then to play your game you must either accept low rewards with low risk in high sec or high risk with low rewards in low sec. It's a common psychological strategy that entices players to thinking "if I want to win more I have to bet big or take more risks" , Problem is, when you take the gamble on exploring in high sec, with the added pressure of new BPC drops and associated competition, you are very likely to lose your fit. Therefore, because your earnings were low in your time in high sec, your only recovery is to quit or buy PLEX. House wins.

I'm not saying this is wrong because I own my own business and this entire game is about profit..offline and online. What I am saying is the system is rigged in the favor of the house.

In addition, if CCP were truly in desperate times, they would open Jove space under the auspice of "the Jovian Cleanse" and pit everyone against an unbeatable force that would suck ISK from all corners of EVE. Naturally, there would be new implants, ships, modules, POS and other distractions.

…except that “the house” isn't involved. It's not rigged — it's balanced. You decide how much effort you are willing to put in and are rewarded in proportion to that effort. At no point are you forced to do anything. You definitely aren't required to buy any PLEX because it's not even remotely your only option.

Also, if you pick highsec, the chances of you losing anything (especially over something as pitiful as a couple of BPCs) is pretty much nil. Maybe if you score a small meta-14 mod, but that has always been the case and has nothing to do with the kind of development you're imagining.

Get in a damn covops ship or cloaked T3 and enjoy risk-free goddamned lowsec exploration. Or dont and leave me be to my riskless exploration ISK farm. just because you cant fly around in EXPLICITLY PVP-centric space without taking at least the most basic measures of safety, is not CCP's fault, its your own self-entitled disinterest in actually playing the game.

I heard X Rebirth got an update, why dont you go play that. Or go donate to Star Citizen, I hear Chris Roberts had to drop down to 2 hookers a night after his last endangered species BBQ.

THE ONLY thing CCP ****** with exploration is that interfaces never have to be replaced, so looting the BPC's or materials needed to build them is an exercise in not only futility, but in intentional poverty. Like seriously CCP, make interfaces non-repairable so that they are actually worth the m3 it takes to loot them (and by extension their HUGE component parts)

Dear GD, can you please stop using "meta game" incorrectly? It really bothers the crap out of me.

CCP's business strategy is just that.. a business strategy. CCP isn't playing EVE. Whatever they're doing is not a "meta game".

Yeah cos we all know them personally and they look after our kids when we are out doing the shopping

God I hate this false sentiment.

Anyway, in regards to the actual topic here...

You arent promised anything. You cannot gain in real terms on your subscription or PLEX. You are buying a consumable product, not a go on the Wheel of Fortune.
