Site name tags on system map

Good afternoon.

I'm posting this here because it is in wormholes that I am having this issue and as most of us scan six out of seven days of the week, I figured someone might have the answer.

I am almost positive that I have read somewhere about this issue on the forums before but when I went back to check for a solution I cannot find it. (And Google has come up dry in this case).

Basically, my issue is this.

When going into our static or through the chain that has systems with a lot of sites in, the site name tags get in the way when I am trying to scan. It's actually really difficult for me to scan currently with these things on my screen. It's only been since Monday that this has been an issue for me as these name tags are not / where not usually there.

I would be grateful if someone could offer me some sort of insight as I'm at a loss (or really blind/missing something painfully obvious) trying to get these off my screen.

I have scoured the escape menu and also the map menu but I think I am probably missing something to get these things off. I am unsure if I have hit something to cause them to stay on the screen permanently.

Thanks in advance. (Even if it's a "nope you're **** out of luck I'm afraid" answer) Big smile

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

You used to be able to hold down the control key and type in squib to bring up the squib menu. That doesn't work any more, so I'm not sure what you can do. (a great feature that quietly disappeared)

I'll agree with your frustrations on this. What a great place to NOT put UNUSEFUL information. I'm recommending removal of this feature as it can't possibly improve any form of game play. Sure it looks nice..... until you try to interact with the game. I talked to Bjorn about it a few days ago - I'll ping on him to see if there is any progress.

It was probably done by the sister of the guy that thinks he knows what I want to highlight before I'm done highlighting something. "STOP HELPING ME" comes to mind.

Hang on, so this is part of the tooltips things that came in? I've not had a major issue with these up until now if this is what they are. I just assumed I'd hit something on the map view (as they weren't like this up until Monday(ish) time).

As far as scanning goes, my probes end up behind the name tags and they are on the screen constantly (I don't even hover over them, they just ... are ...) which makes it near impossible to scan unless I am zoomed right in on the map. I have been rolling into a fair amount of wormholes with a ton of anomalies / signatures in them recently. And its the anomalies that are also constant name tags.

Edit: Atrocious spelling.

Try the cosmic signature filter maybe? Haven't had a chance to test yet, but that would be your best bet. Horizontal line option menu thing that doesn't really look like a menu unless you have been playing eve forever. also, my azn cube neighbor is slurpin the **** out of her ramen. Cheers Ghenghis, although the filter is already in place, it's one of the first things I checked. I even went and grabbed combat probes to see if it was just something to do with regular probes (no luck there either).

As for the last part of your post, I too hate lip smacking while eating.

Don't they only show up like that if you've previously warped to them? I've never seen that happen on the solar system screen when scanning.

These tags are not shown while scanning if you check the hint option (red X) for Scan Result in World Map Control Panel.

Yeah that was what I thought too, but then for a few systems, its done this since Monday. I hadn't even initiated warp to any of the signatures yet, I had literally jumped into system, bookmarked the hole and warped around to see if I could see anyone. This is why it confused me.

Cheers for your input, but that is how my system scanner options look.

Thanks for your replies people, it seems to have sorted itself out. Logged in earlier and apparently this has just stopped happening just as randomly as it started happening. I'll file a bug report.

Has to be something local to your client settings, mine doesnt do this unless I warp to the sites.

I just can't come up with a good reason why they should appear at all. This goes for K-space also. I doubt it contributes to server lag any more than it does to game play. It's just useless information that can get in the way if you warp to sites to activate them.

Does anyone have a need for floaty anom names? Esp. since there are only 4 names that repeat over and over in a given system. I think it would be better to have POS name pop ups once you warp to a planet. Big smile

To be fair, they only usually appear like that if I hover over it or if I warp to every site. It's sorted itself out now and has gone back to normal. Probably me doing something my end but who knows.

I do agree in a map view they are pretty useless (at least for me anyway). As for POS names at a moon, if you bookmark said POS tower it will show up, but only on hover over haha P
