Will we ever be able to dock on planets?

Planet stations would expand things a bit. No?

Or are our spaceships incapable of atmospheric flight limiting it to small "winged" spacecraft only?

Can't we just "dock" with each other?

The aerodynamics of a titan seem lacking...

DUST is on planets. If they manage to integrate that, a cool step were to walk on planets taking an elevator from your CQ. Or down the hall. That closed door could be that elevator. Who needs to walk on a station when you can walk on a planet?

That's no moon.

.....I've got a bad feeling about this.

She looks so much cuter now!
And the lighting is very well chosen.

Adorable! ;)

Last time a ship officially made re-entry it left a crater on the planet and threatened tectonic stability. So I doubt they're made for atmospheric flight.

But maybe they make the Jita moon at the trade hub into the station. It would definitely be fitting to the amount of stuff in there and the activity on the station.

The way it would have to work would be as docking with the POCO and getting a shuttle flight down or sky elevator down to the planet surface. But now we are getting into avatars walking around so expect a 'NOOOOOO!' because - Incarna

To be fair, it was shot to hell.

On the other hand, this is yet another way proving Gallente superiority.

Yes, the Wandering Saint *only* slammed into an Ishukone station, but that Caldari Titan crashed into a PLANET!

OUR Titans can avoid planets, thank you very much.

I'd like to see a Dominix try to fly in an atmosphere.

It wouldn't even fall gracefully. It'd be a kind of docking I guess.

Grab potatoe.
Throw potatoe.
Dominix flying through atmosphere.

Catch potato with oven mitt.
Enjoy delicious atmosphere baked potato.

Now someone go and calculate what height we need to drop potatoes to have them finished when we catch them.

"attempted to catch terminal velocity re-entry cooked potatoe" would be one hell of an obituary.

I believe that according to the lore tritanium cannot exist in atmospheric environments. So they'd all just explode.

This is true for raw tritanium, but it's alloyed in starship manufacturing. Did the Titan that crashed on Caldari Prime explode?

Yes.

Thus the devastation.

Wait.

I'm still trying to figure out how you dock with a planet.
