For me it's OVERHEAT. Need to web that guy long enough to get out of range? Overheat your prop mod, web and gtfo of dodge...

Need to put the guy you have targeted down before his mates turn up. Overheat that high slot shizzle bitchesezesez.

Let's be honest, most of us that read this know what we are doing at least 50% of the time so stick some advice in here to the newbro's out there looking for what to think about.

Fly like you know you're going to die, and plan accordingly. Try to make your opponent work hard to kill you. One day you'll find your opponent didn't work hard enough and you survived. Don't expect to survive, don't be sad or mad when you don't, be happy when you do.

The number one tip I'd give to new solo'ers.

Do NOT get put off/dismayed by losing ships in stupid ways. Losing ships will happen, and you just need to learn how to deal with it.

record your fights and watch it afterwards. try to figure out what went wrong

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Commit to a certain ship (I'd recommend starting with a frigate cause they are cheap). After balancing pretty much all ships are viable, choose one you like, research fits and go out there fly it till you know the ship in and out. After you've done that you usually have a good idea what kind of playstyle you like and what ship you want to progress to as well as good idea of what other ships are capable of.

Fleet. Doesn't matter if your goal is to ultimately solo. If you're new you'll learn more in a week of fleeting than a month of blundering about solo. Once you have the basics down, then you can drop the fleet and try it out on your own.

Embrace dying in stupid ways. I once literally forgot to turn on my guns. These things happen. Grab a new ship and just try not to make the same mistake you did last time.

Learn the meta (most popular ships and fits in your area), then fly something unexpected or a hard-counter.

Don't rush your training into battlecruisers and battleships. Train the proper support skills and learn to PvP with frigates.

Just because a ship says 'Battle' in it's title doesn't mean it appropriate for every situation.

Start in frigates and research how others frigates are commonly fitted, Check killboards for the likely fit your opponent will be using then try and counter.

For example a Merlin will almost always be blaster fit (So has a very short range 2-3km) so counter with a afterburner web and scram railgun tristan and keep yourself out of his guns optimal range or use a tracking disruptor with optimal range disruption.

I agree with this. Commit to a hull. Learn it, focus sp into it and abuse it for what role it is good for once you figure out the role is something you enjoy on some level. You don't have to fly the biggest, baddest, dps throwing ship out there to enjoy yourself there are many roles to fill depending on how you are playing.

1. Platinum Insurance
1a. Make a note of the weaklings 'soloing' with boosts (31km point for example) and don't bother fighting them
1b. Have fun when you win AND lose

Number one tip :

Learn to be a marketeer , as a soloer you're gonna be outgunned most of the times and as such you're gonna have a high loss ratio.

Skills , tactics and everything else you'll learn going from one fight to the other and as such from one loss to the other. As long as you're wallet is fat enough you can keep loosing and as such keep learning.

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.
