So as a benchmark, the OP received 68 "Likes" and can be found on page 9 post #163 if you would like to catch up. With that said I felt it was time for a TLDR and consolidate my responses so far to save some reading time. This doesn't mean you need to avoid other gamers responses till page 9, just some of mine.

I'm not a very good writer, don't have a editing staff, website, or large following of supporters, in fact I'm not very well liked but at the end of the day I'm a player like you who's played and watched the game evolve for over 6 years now and have a few ideas that could provide another option to help get us out of the Null Sec corner we've painted ourselves into.

6,000 Char TLDR, and In no particular order, below is a boiled down version and new description of up to Page 9:

Null Sec is supposed to be a "Sandbox", so why keep certain SOV mechanics which allow it to be gammed into the slab of concrete it is now? CCP can you get rid of SOV structures/mechanics like TCUs, SBUs, Station Timers, and Station/Out Post docking rights?

Now this doesn't remove "SOV" completely (IHUBs/Upgrades), it just removes what no one in this game has ever enjoyed about it. Leave in place the IHUBs, Upgradable system options that reward your efforts, and POS Timers. If you're Corp or Alliance is strong enough to farm, police, and defend what space you chose to "control", then you keep the space you want. If not, you move to where you can.

The problem I see with the SOV changes everyone else is suggesting (FW etc.) is that it’s simply changing out one "hamster wheel" for another one. Trying to force Corps / Alliance into having to stay in their space and run on a hamster wheel in order to keep the lights on and the isk flowing seems a little silly to me. People are going to farm, police, and defend it anyways or they wouldn’t be there? Why do we need to install a requirement as to how much they need to farm it to keep it? Let the decision as to who owns what space be decided directly between space ships.

This would be the first step in removing "nullsec's ludicrously high barrier of entry" that we use against each other in order to make taking space so unbearable that the "winner" is that who made logging into the game a more miserable experience for the opponent and, in most cases, without actually shooting at each other.

This idea, or a form of it, would allow players new and dynamic game choices related to Null Sec play. There are hundreds of unused stations and systems all over Null Sec being rented out because the players that want to use them can't kill the SOV structures. The landlords who did, are now logged off, playing other games, and only login to collect the rent checks.

Coalitions, such as the CFC, is stuffed with political puppets caught in a Null Sec "Game of Thrones" grudge match that dates back before they began playing EVE. Over the years this has developed into a small back channel "Cool Kids Club" where a handful of players, that don't play the game much anymore, have agreed to logjam the game in order to keep their isk printing machines going. These same players are now the ones "explaining what's wrong" and promoting their own "ideas" on how to fix it....Shocked

New "SOV" mechanics would need to “stress” the out of game meta community that has developed within the CFC at this point. Currently they rely on each other to survive and will simply strive to make sure they have a work around established for every conceivable threat if any of the SOV changes being promoted are put in place:

Remove Jump bridges = CFC Alliances put Jump Clones in each main station of each CFC Alliance Region.

Remove Titan Bridges = CFC Alliances put Jump Clones in each main station of each CFC Alliance Region.

Remove Jump Drives = CFC Alliances put Jump Clones in each main station of each CFC Alliance Region and supports the Existing local CFC Alliances Capital fleet with massive SubCap blob.

32,000 members = enough PvP toons to JC to assists a member Alliance + alt at home to keep SOV up.

EVE Null Sec needs to be put in a position where Alliances cant rely on Coalitions for them to keep their space. That there will be too many ongoing small fires to put out that they can't be there for every one of them. If TCUs, SBUs, Timers, and Docking rights go away small pvp corps and Alliances could move out to 0.0 stations and start using the space around it. A lot of these smaller Corps and Alliances are so good at PvP and harassment tactics that many incompetent PvP Alliances hiding behind walls of HP, Timers, and Docking rights would crumble under the weight of this constant assault. The classic response of “adapt or die” would actually apply to Null Sec. The Alliances that held space in Null Sec would actually have to be good at the game and micro politics would drive the narrative all over Null Sec instead of what a few decided on coms while playing Tanks.

• Local and regional politics would develop with leaders/war lord’s etc. coming out of the wood works to govern with limited power to hold over players’ heads.

• Back room deals can be made by the lowest level grunt each day which could drastically impact what happens throughout a constellation or region……stronger relationships are born.

• Ninja living in Null Sec could be done by anyone who wanted to take the risk alone, in Corps, Alliances by choice while others hunted them.

• Grass roots market HUBs and industry in Null Sec would grow to amazing size and use all over null sec….Jita size HUBs policed by Mercs etc………. Mos Isley Space Station etc…

• And so many other opportunities for player driven content would come to life all around 0.0 as players were free to move where they wanted if they were willing to take the risk and develop the relationships..

OP with second half of the idea is on Page 9, Post 163

But that's unlikely to happen. People already cry about the announcement of destructible stations, imagine the floods when they don't have sov anymore and need to defend and actively claim it.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Simple ideas are the best.
Power projection would still be a problem though.

Agree, but station access should be defined by their owners.

Also, you ought to be able to build any structure anywhere in null sec - including multiple stations in a single system. It should be up to the players to remove structures - not arbitrary Sovereignty Rules.

But then what will the nullbears have to cling to and uphold as their shining achievement that makes them superior to all other players, even if all they did was press F1?

What will the Renters rent?

What will the Pirates pi.... Oh wait....

+1 just because I want to watch what happens when this torch drops on the dry, stale bed of straw that is null-sec when Sov disappears overnight.

Hell yeah, no sov in null would be fun to watch. Would that mean supers and titans could then be built in wormhole space?

Remember when we had that standings bug? Remember how many people thought it was "The best bug ever!" and that CCP should "leave this one in game" because they were having so much fun?

- Remove Sov.
- Remove ability to set standings.

Boom. Null sec fixed. If you're not in my alliance, you're a target.

This would be nice... especially the Capital Station idea- hell, maybe an alliance with a capital station could even lobby for a custom skin for one ship or something like that that you could only get there? That'd be fun Big smile

And sov sucks.

If they ever finish the custom ship skins tool they showed at fanfest this will be easily accomplished.

just removing sov alone would benefit the game. That is how bad the sov mechanics are. and for the love of god fix the pos towers so more groups can make it out on their own away from the limitations of security space.
