So far been finding it hard to get peoples opinions on this.
Would there be anything wrong with using a Procurer in combat?

It only has the one weapon slot which is a definitely downside, but it also has one of the biggest drone bonuses and much higher health than other ships of the same value.

It does not have a "weapon slot" it has 1 high but no turret or missile hardpoint.

While you "could" fit a shield buffer tank to it or something and use it as a drone boat with a flight of lights and 2 DDA's it doesnt mean you should.

The procurer is a mining barge, not really a combat ship. You can't fit a weapon into that single high slot either, but you can fill the lows with drone damage amplifiers if you like.
Not saying it's impossible to do some combat with it, but except for bait and attacking gankers or thieves in belts and ice anomalies, I wouldn't bother trying.

And btw, take a look at gallente drone boats, 50% drone damage is quite common among those.

Nothing funnier than a mining barge on the winning side of a expensive killmail.

Its not going to work all the time but when it does its a hoot.

Come on, you don't really need a gun on a droneboat do you?

Just put a strip miner or a mining laser on that slot an bait them to come for you. Then send a lot of angry drones out to do you bidding Blink

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Gallente Drone boats do have bonuses but highest is 10%

or 17.5% with its 2 bonuses on the 300mil Eos
Although to be fair they can have larger drones, but procurer is only 16 mil.

Didnt actually n otice it had no weapon hardpoints lol.

I dont expect it to be the strongest ship out but still just think if i have maxed all skills that can help procurer but have minimal skills on other ships might still be worth sticking to the procurer.

Also people seem to much prefer the retriever i would understand for the cargo space. But does the additinal strip miner make a difference? does the procurer bonus not make up for the difference?

Unfortunately can't post kill mails here, but if you check eve-kill for Thanatos losses on the 13th June, there's a very funny kill mail.

Procurer for tank, Retriever for ore hold. Their yields are similar.

Gallente get 10% per level which makes 50% at max skills. Proc gets a flat role bonus of 50%.

It's about as tough as the sturdiest T1 combat cruisers, but a flight of bonused lights is anemic in terms of damage output and it is very restricted in terms of fitting room and slot layout. You can't fit an MWD, medium neut, or any kind of appropriately-sized buffer or active tanking module, and just an Afterburner will leave you maxed out. You have a lot of capacitor compared to other cruisers, but it's not quite enough to perma-run a Medium Shield Booster (unless you feel like Deadspace fitting your Battle Procurer) and the rep amount isn't enough to fend off anything meaner than a Rifter in any case.

The one thing you could do with it is fit a scram and a web and bait out cocky people in Frigates. Anything Cruiser sized or larger should walk all over you unless they are shamefully ill-fit and do something tremendously dumb, and a tough frigate like an Enyo that was smart enough to shoot your drones first could probably still kill you.

If you're gatecamping lowsec with only few people it is actually a nice ship.

Brings Battlecruiser tank and almost frigateish Sensor Resolution.
Keep it at 10 or so on the gate, it can either bait really well or actually get tackle AND tank Gateguns for quite some time.

This. You can get around 1.7k scan res with 3 SeBos on the Procurer with 63k EHP (using DCU/Bulkhead/Hull HP Rigs) and a long point. Makes for a pretty solid instalock gatecamper if you have a mining alt.
