How much does it cost to be in the AT?

So, I'm just sort of cruious about the costs incurred by the alliance tournaments to the entrants.

My understanding is that half the people get in by silent auction, and given the names on that list I would assume it can get pretty heated. Then there are ship costs, which, based on watching the NEOII, can also get very high.

Basically I'm just curious what the AT costs on average.

For NEO 2, cutoff plex amount was 21 (can't remember if it included initial 5 plex deposit or not, likely it did).

As for fund for tourney itself - i would say that 20-30b should be enough for an average team. Out of these 50-70% will be returned in the form of ships which survived or weren't used at all.

Obviously it depends on success of your team, if you're getting knocked out into losers on 1st match, then whitewash some other team on 2nd, then knocked out of the tourney on 3rd it will be much, much cheaper.

We've done fairly well in the last couple of ATs, and 25-30b isk is typically how much we spent on ships, modules, and implants.

The entrance fee will be a fairly large expense on top of this, unless you win the draw.

How much of that isk was lost? I assume that you did not lose all the ships every round.

In AT 10, we spent 26b and recovered 11b.
In AT 11, we spent about 28b, and recovered about 14b.

You can spend staggering amounts if you're of a mind.

You also stand to potentially win a fairly staggering amount.

This was Fanfest 2013 Alliance panel presentation - http://imgur.com/GszVxkw PL didn't win in 2013 (AT 10), but AT 6,7,8 and 11 were wins and the 50 ships you receive for winning far exceed the isk that was spent on the tournament

For example, the Morachas from AT11 are conservatively worth 120 bil each x50 = 6 Trillion

So, there could be a ROI there
