It's a BS size logi/exploration ship.

What exactly needs explaining?

I'd bet most are in well controlled WH's.

It's basically useless except for maybe some really really really niche situations which I have no idea about. I'm not disappointed honestly, it is by far one of the dumbest looking ships of all time and I wouldn't be caught dead flying it. It looks like a disfigured potato masher =/

What's a Nestor?

you see them on sisi a lot, i have yet to see one on tq though.

It can be used as fairly powerful static Logistic platform for Incursions and Wormhole, beyond that I know not a single useful niche(nobody that claimed there is such a thing ever delivered, just a lot of hot air from people that don't own the ships and try to come up with fittings in EFT for tasks where cheaper options would be better to begin with). I own one and use it as Logi for Incs nearly every day and I know some people that use it in her C4 in combination with a few spider tanking Marauders.

You are also right that the ship is to expensive for what it does currently(because of the to high LP cost and other demand for SOE LP), not focused enough to be worth the price tag in a specific field of use and lacks a bigger field of application(mostly by not really thought-out ship design from CCP, in stats, slot layout and hull bonuses), however all that was already pointed out by people that actually own and use the ships during the first and the 2. changes to the hull itself.

From my point of view it is ok in a specific niche, but not really worth the price-tag(what extends the hull cost a lot in any useful fitting) compared to a normal logistic Cruiser. The extra 650 dps, higher RR than a normal logi and 2 extra remote tracking links are nice, but only a few people might be willing to invest a few billions for that. Btw the market value comes from the cost of the SOE LP that where used to make them in the first place and currently it is more of a collectors item than really a ship with a clear role and purpose in eve.

It's like a baby carrier, that's more expensive.

And deals not even 20% of the DPS and has not even 10% of the tank and not even a jump drive to compensate... :D

Except that nobody in their right mind will waste most of the high-slots with lasers when it can theoretically out-rep a pair of Guardians. You'd fit 7 reppers, or 6 and a Energy Xfer, so you'd be using drones only, unless you're using 2 Nestors with full rep fit, so the lows would have tank and the rest CPRs.

The ship is trying to do too many things at once, and is failing to meet the bar at all but a very few niche spots; namely, station RR games, VG single/double logi, and being an ALOD waiting to happen.
