What undertone?

Really.

The politics is practically screaming out......

"He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."  - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882

It would also be interesting to examine U.S. involvement in removing the governments of Iran in 1953 and again in Iraq in 1963. People love to blame religious ideologies for the mess in the middle east but we tend to gloss over how much meddling our governments do there and maybe, just maybe....that might be a tiny part of the reason why people hate us over there.

It's not just the US. The west has a lot to answer for around the world for their actions, it's US foreign policy since WWI that coalesces criticism against a giant target. It's not as if countries around the world rage over Portugal or Spain, and yet they paved the way for international, industrialised exploitation centuries ago.

Try Der Spiegel for more thought-provoking coverage Doreen (it's available in translation). I'm looking at the moment myself for news coverage with some oomph. That article is so oversimplified it's pointless to pay it any attention. Apart from being on Yahoo it seems to imply Iraqi insurgency started after US troops withdrew and is purely about religious/factional divisions, with no reference to the influence or actions of the west. Lies of ommission are still lies. It's a propaganda/apologist blurb and you should be querying why articles like that are written in the first place with such obvious bias.
