Can someone please explain to me how this works? i had someone locked close to a station and could not open fire on them because they were invunerable been a casual player i have not encountered this before and have no idea how or why they were invunerable.

thanks

After undocking, you are unlockable for 10 seconds unless you take an action other than "stop ship".

It's actually 30 seconds upon station undock. 10 seconds is the session change timer, the one that has to expire before you can dock up again.

You're also invulnerable when you warp in (anywhere), again if you don't take any action. In this case it is 10 seconds I believe (but possibly less).

^^ This.

It's 30 seconds invulnerable, not 10 seconds.

Casual player??? Hmm, casual players usually don't station camp other players. Learn basic game mechanics.

Oh hush you. There are plenty of reasons to want to understand this station mechanic. He's clearly trying to learn basic mechanics because he's asking the question.

Did it say they were invulnerable when you tried to attack?

I thought the 30 sec timer stopped you actually locking them? If you had them locked but couldn't attack sounds like a safety setting to me.

yes i belive my safety was enabled as i had just jumped from high sec. I was not camping the station i had just jumped into the system and warped to station and he was there. Yes i did have him locked

Did he dock right after you tried to shoot him? If so, you could have locked him just as he was beginning to dock, and then when you went to shoot him he had started the docking session change.

Really? I thought it was just until you finish decelerating. Seems noticeably longer for battleships?

Yes!

Works with acceleration gates too, it's commonly used in faction warfare for example. It gives the FC a few seconds to assess the situation (enemy ship positions, first targets to call) before the salughter begins.

You can easily try it even on your own: warp somewhere, then attempt a 'safe logoff'.

That's what he is trying to do, way to make yourself look like an idiot.

OP, you should really listen to a lecture from eve uni about aggression timers/flags. Things can get really out of hand for you extremely fast if your not prepared. You attack them after undocking, and get yourself an aggression timer. He docks up right after you hit him and then he undocks in something bigger or better and you can't dock up because you still have a weapons timer. IE station gaming. If you continue to do this, I would highly recommend that you start aligning to something when your target docks up after you flag your self on him.

Lol seriously? Isn't that what he's doing? Hell I PvP all the time and don't know too much about station mechanics other than how to insta, cause station games are stupid. I would hardly consider that a basic game mechanic.

Yeah the invuln timer is a hasstle sometimes, but it has also helped me a few times in the past, best way to get around it is to use instalock so they second they drop invuln they're tackled.

Stations 101:
1. Undock in tanky PVP boat
2. Make a bookmark to bump people off the undock, make an instant undock just in case they have one and it happens to be near yours
3. Kill, stay moving to minimize DPS since you'll be taking guns
4. Loot and scoot
5. Profit
6. Rinse wash repeat
( Apply logi liberally if needed, exequorors are cheap and do it nicely )
