several years ago when salvaging was introduced to the game the catalyst became the number one salvager, everyone was using it. then as years went on we saw new salvage ships and modules develop and the catalyst was relegated to pirate ganking and other stuff. but does anyone out there still use the old rust bucket for salvaging anymore? just curious.

Who? I haven't used a cormorant for that since I got my noctibus. And my exotic dancers are all the happier with the extra leg room and softer suspension. Hey, well if it gets them to drink even moar spiced wine, it's all good.

I'm in it for the money

If you don't use a noctis, a destroyed would still be a very good salvager. TBH I would have preferred the dedicated salvager to be a destroyer sized ship and not BC dimensioned.

I'd add a destroyer sized T1 logistics to ORE, make a T2 version for salvaging and change all existing Noctis' to that one, add the Primae as a proper T1 PI ship and a T2 version named Noctis as a covert command ship/explorer/surveyor. Though I don't see that ever happening.

Much much more useful for WH and other rapid salvaging than Nocti

Im not sure anyone I know doesnt have at least 1 cormy, coercer, that gallente submarine thing or talwar hidden around somewhere for just that

Yep!

I think Destroyers are still a very viable alternative to the Noctis, especially since the introduction of mobile tractor units.

Almost as effective and a lot cheaper when it gets ganked.

for salvaging in more hostile environments, i'd easily take a destroyer over a noctis.

I'd go for a ninja salvaging interceptor with cloak sporting 8kmsec heated ... xD

I still have some of mine but I used the noctis when I used to mission. I just hate missions so badly I dont unless the gf wants some quick cash.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Quick (and crappy) salvage alt in an Algos with the bonus to the drones MWD speed before they get their skills up. Have it in the pocket you just completed, set drones to salvage and walk away (go back to main with mission running). If you want drop an MTU or don't if you don't want to risk accidentally having your primary mission runner drones attacking the guy who shot at your MTU if you leave them to aggressive.

Beyond that drop a few MTU's while mission running and come back in a dessie with drones + salvagers and lows filled with cargo expanders with all the wrecks in one location thanks to the MTU. I can't see why it won't be effective, not as good as an Noctis but still effective. I wouldn't mind seeing a dessie built for mission looting with a separate cargo hold for MTU's, bonus to salvager drones speed/salvage chance and salvagers in general. As an added bonus they be easier to gank than the Noctus in high sec, bring company and you can almost guarantee you can gank the mission runners ship and get their pod.

They are far more useful in wormholes than a Noctis is. Easier to replace being a big component of that.

I'm still using my trusty Thrasher for cleaning up my trash, it's actually one of the oldest ships I own.

I must admit to not bothering with salvage any more, I'll run multiple missions, bookmark the pockets and then go back and just drop an MTU to hoover up all the loot before the wrecks pop.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Do salvage drones even have a MWD? I never noticed them using one, just like mining drones.

must ... resist ... temptation to loot and salvage

repeat to self .... blitzing missions @ SOE LP rates is better ISK/hour

OCD inclinations to tidy up must be resisted
