Lighting cynos on stations.

Hi all,

I've got the necessary skills to light a normal cyno on a station for carriers etc.

My questions are these:

What's the general distance the landing ships will be from cyno once they've jumped to the cyno?

Using the Tactical display in-game, how far away should my ship be from the station to prevent bouncing the landing ships?

Should I be, between 5 and 10 on the tactical display or between 0 and 5, 0 being the station?

Thanks in advance.

The range you land from a cyno is 5km. So you have to be at least 5km towards the station from the docking range limit or you risk the ship landing outside of docking range. And you also have to be at least 5km from the station geometry (preferably a bit more to account for ship size) to not get bumped.

As a rough rule of thumb I would suggest 10 km from the station geometry. Capitals are relatively large.

Leave the civilian miner fitted, it shows you a nice bubble when you hover over it in tactical overlay.

Never less than 5.
A cyno bump will send your ship a long ways out.

I use a general 'count' when I undock. Especially if I'm familiar with the station.
Undock, count to 10,(1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, etc.) Stop ship, light cyno.

Thanks for the responses guys, and thanks for the link.

The station in question has quite a large docking range so I'm thinking of something along the lines of between 5 and 10km, using the tactical overlay to position my cyno ship.

Thanks again for the responses and link.

This. Although I personally "count" using a method that relies on the server cycle ticks, but it's about 10 seconds if you just count it out. Works like a charm every time.
