Hisec Pos and Poco Bashing

Hi everybody!

I'm posting this with my alt because I don't want to tip my hand to anyone. :)

So I've been out of the game for a while, and when I came back, aaaaaallll these ship changes are in place. I haven't played the game for ages, and I feel like a newb again. I'm going to be getting involved in hisec war, and I have questions involving POS and POCO bashing.

First of all, any suggestions? (Aside from "don't do it," and "go to null you n00b.") Ships? Fits? Minimum number of people?

When I think of POS bashing, I think of the stories I've heard of how dull and boring it is in Null for people to bash on a pos with their Caps. Since caps don't fit in high, the dullness is a million fold- I imagine. I don't want to exacerbate the dullness any more than I need to.

I was thinking about using an Oracle for bashes. I heard that someone uses a Domi with Sentries. I suspect we'll average 3 people active at any given time. If my DPS is the average (that's 500 - 600 dps) over three people (1500 to 1800 dps), about how long would we be sitting there pewing at a structure? POS and POCO. Assuming no intervention, of course. I know their defenses can differ, but ball park figures will be fine.

How do others handle pos and poco bashing (other than avoiding it)?

(In before, the troll posts.)

No one gave me any feedback on this, sooooo, I went ahead with the Oracle. I'm hoping it will be enough.

If it's just a boring dead POS, it'll work if you spend enough time. If it's a Death star, you want Battleships with Logi.
If it's an E-War star, Marauders with ASB tank & otherwise passive tank. Or Logi with Remote ECCM & Battleships with ECCM.
Basically active POS'es with defence will really be a pain.

Okay, about how many people would you say is the minimum attackers at each one of your examples? I can probably get logi involved no problem. I haven't attacked many pos's before. :)

There a POS fit´s with very high resists. I saw fleets of 40 People Need 5-10min to lower shield 1%. If u are unlucky u wont even put out enough damage to get over shield recharge rate.

If u want to bash structures in High i would recommend at least 20 People. Also suggest sentries if u can, cause otherwise u will have to bring multiple haulers with ammo...

40 people - 5 to 10 for 1%?

Where they all in a Velator? (I know it wont even shoot far enough)

Even with high resits 40 people in a battleship in high (so no WH effects) will get it into reinforced or down in about 30 mins.

5 to 10 guys count on 2 hours to go into reinforced and another 1 hour once out of reinforced (for a large tower). Half the time for each tower size. Leaving about 30mins for a small one. And up it 25% for faction towers.

Thanks for the perspective! That's helpful. :D

Torpedoes, lots of Rage Torpedos, a Raven will get you close to 1200dps on a pos, sure, spend a few more isk and get some super magical damage from a blaster vindicator.

We were in Bombers in Null. It was a large POS with very high resists. No other moduls at all if my alt brain doesn´t trick me. Estimated dps/bomber is around 400 so: yes if you can use 1200dps ravens, you will need less Players. but a small number of interceptors will be able to pin you down long enough to really ruin your day.

Or spend less isk, slap some infinite lazors on a geddon navy or domi, add heavies and do 1300-1600dps.

Sentries are the only drones capable of attacking POS shields. You would need to swap out your heavies when you're done incapping guns/ecm.

How does bashing a POCO work? If I understand it correctly, you first have to get it to "reinforced" and then wait for that window to open, and then finish it off, right?

How many EHP does it take to reinforce a POCO, and then how many to end it? I can do the math with DPS from there. I saw killmails that had about 15,000,000 EHP but I didnt know if that was total, or just the finishing bit?

Killmails doesn't show EHP, just raw hp damage taken.

Reinforced mode kicks in at 25% provided it has stront in it. Reinforced mode will not kick in if it was previously reinforced and it hasn't been repaired above 50% shields. (Again needs re-stronting).

Noctis with cargo expanders doesnt have that much EHP and can be ganked with a T2 catalyst and good skills. http://www.minerbumping.com/p/blog-page.html points you in the proper direction for a T2 skill plan.

Making New Eden a better place 8 rounds of Void at a time.
