EVE won't launch

Hi

Eve has worked completely fine for me up until it downloaded a patch a few days ago, since then the game will not start. The launcher opens as expected, after logging in and hitting "PLAY" it says "LAUNCHING" but nothing happens and the game does not launch.

Hardware info : iMac 2.5GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 512 MB AMD Radeon HD 6750M
OS version: 10.6.8

I have tried restarting the Mac multiple times

I have tried deleting the EVE online folder in /Users/(name of user)/Library/Application Support/ trying to launch the game and waiting for over an hour

I have tried setting the launcher to automatically close when I click launch

Another thread suggested reinstalling the game, unsure how to do this I asked a friend how to reinstall apps on a mac and he told me to drag the 16.85GB EVE online app from the Applications folder and then drag it back in

None of these resolved the issue and the game still will not launch

Please help

Thank you sincerely for reading

OS version: 10.6.8 <- That is why the game is no longer starting for you.

They've had 10.7.5 as minimum requirement for a while (see http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/eve-online-news/upcoming-changes-to-macintosh-minimum-requirements/ and http://community.eveonline.com/support/knowledge-base/article.aspx?articleId=124) and due to Cider updates that came with Kronos, the game will no longer work on anything below 10.7

So why all of a sudden did it change? a lot of us have not had good results with the newest os and have gone back to older versions that work much better.

The latest OSX eve patch is so good.

I think the biggest update they had in that one is an update to CIDER (the "windows" wrapper around eve) which requires later versions of OSX.

Hopefully you don't need an old version of OSX like that for work or something... but mavericks runs great so i'd just bite the bullet. Mavericks is a free update.

It's worth discontinuing old versions of the OSX as long as it translates to better stability and playability. I would not protest against this ;-) What's happened in the past few weeks for most of us with these latest patches is fantastic.

I haven't had a single freeze in weeks. Try running windowed mode (pick a resolution that works for you), all lowest settings, except the 2 texture settings max.

that's how i run it... perhaps it has something to do with using the higher settings?? (like bloom, for instance)
