Reading that makes me assume you have never been a proper FW pilot.
Doing plexes while hunting people makes you more than enough ISK so that you never have to actually grind as long as you are fine flying cost effective ships. I know that because that is exactly the way I do it.

Or at least one of these two.

Oh and don't waste ISK on more expensve equipment to make more money.
That's stupid. Like minmaxers do, who gather isk to spend it to gather more ISK.

People aren't that smart so beware of who you ask about advice.

Don't need much money for a T1 ship. Just goto a level 4 mission hub and probe scan for drones with no ships around. (they are everywhere since people forget them all the time.) Then warp to drones and scoop them. Free isk. Rinse/repeat a few times and you have more then enough isk to get a new ship with little effort.

No salvaging, it's a waste of my time, something I don't have much of.

Well if you don't want to do mission running (which I like and pays good), and PI doesn't bring in enough for you... other than running three characters to make good isk, than maybe marketing? You could always drop in a plex to train a second character for a month, which is plenty of time to set up a decent marketing alt. Later you can always expand that training time to include hauling and even PI if you want, or scout skills. FW is a good way to go though.

Exactly the point.

You simply get this part wrong.

And doing things the "easy" way really isn't something one should strive for.
We have so many cowards and easy-mode player already, that it annoys the **** out of me.

Not only is it the thinking of a working drone ...
... (work hours for money, spend money for hours pvp) ...
... it's also simply not fun at all.

Nobody should ever believe he needs to work for hours, so he can have fun.

Especially not in a video game!

If you love being working drone, then that's fine by everybody else,
but the mindset shouldn't be spread around,
because those who don't know better will believe that this is how it works in EVE ONLINE ...

... and then they leave!

This crap costs us thousands of new players.

People should have fun when they make isk!

I scanned down a hacking site the other day and warped to it cloaked. A heron warped in moments later. I was already in warp to station to get Power Rifter© out of the stable.
Landed back at the site and asploded him. Pod too.
From his point of view he got jumped seconds into starting the hacking mini game, with no probes of any kind on dscan. Just dps from nowhere.
He was about a month old, this is my favourite kind of 1v1 in lowsec.
Generally lowsec is as empty as null, then the FW systems are clowntown on uppers. Any whines about numbers, ecm, awoxing are just the sound of the defeated mourning their failure.

PS. Faction frigate gank fit is superior to assault frigate. I have T1 frigate hulls that can waste an assault frigate but die in seconds to high damage faction. Also drugs and links make things crazy too.

Create an alt and mine in high-sec while you PVP. You'll make more mining than you'll lose in that same amount of time.

It's recommended to be pretty much always be mining while playing EVE, as it's something you can start easily and just leave alone for 10 minutes at a time (or 30 mins if you don't mind being ganked sometimes). Then it takes all of 10 seconds to restart it for another round. Reshipping after a PVP loss takes more effort tbh.

There are very many things which you should not do near Jita. I'd say PI is one of them.

That said, PI is a great source of income. For me it fully funds my monthly PLEX.

Find the money making thing you enjoy most and do it.
If there's nothing you enjoy find the most afk thing you can do (anoms, ice mining, etc) and do it while doing work, watching movies, whatever.
If you can't do that, sell plex.
Eventually get enough isk to out into something semi passive like trade, pi, reaction farm, bpo research, etc.
Or just create the next somerblink.

I've been spending my time in lowsec a fair bit trying to get fights, killed a harbinger with a couple of friends in frigates and cruisers when going into null and managed to get a myrmidon.

The easiest way to PvP, even profiting from it to the point of making PvE irrelevant, is to be what I call a 'line pilot' for a large null sec alliance. Virtually all alliances worth joining will have at the very least an SRP in place. Most will also freely hand out any support ship needed for a fleet such as Ceptors and Dictors or Logi. Since losses are covered, most alliance mates will also be generous with their personal ships in an effort to get you in fleet.

For the most part, SRP's work by you buying a 'doctrine' ship (there is usually some freedom in fitting to accommodate varying skill levels) up front, then if it is lost during 'official business' it will be replaced or isk reimbursed to your wallet. Some alliances sweeten the deal by offering 'bro' roles extra isk to actually turn a profit from losses. Logi, for example, is often reimbursed at over 100% ship cost.

For really expensive 'ships of the line' such as shiny T3's and blinged battleships, alliances may offer a subsidy if the ship is bought in-house from contracts. That benefits an internal supplier as well as offsets the steep buy-in cost of top end ships that still might be blapped right off the field.

Over the years I've said it many times- learn to fly an Interdictor and you can fly in every PvP that undocks in null sec. Alliances that don't simply hand out Dictors aren't worth applying to. Care bear all you want between fleets and hoard isk till your pod turns blue- no one will care if you show up to fleets, and show up with nothing more than a T2 Destroyer.

Beg for ISK in a major system... the smack will fly in Local like monkey poop at the zoo, but it's ridiculous how much ISK beggars make.

AFK mining & stealing cargo. I've done it with a venture only, and being a new player I've still earned something like 80M. Let alone the gifts from everywhere I received. I just fit my venture with a kiting fit and let's roll for 30 mins of fun with me watching a video or doing the laundry. P

Planning to get a procurer with 80+ eHPs for the lulz.

So I'm a merlin pilot and I'm looking for ways to fund my pvp without the much needed grinding of missions.

Should I train into PI and set up planets in lowsec near jita? And how much would my net income per day be?

PLEX. They cost less than $20 and get you over 700 million ISK. You can save that much money just by spending time doing good comparative shopping for food and other day-to-day items you buy, and the ISK per hour doing so will be better than most any in-game activity.

The only reason to make ISK in-game is because you enjoy doing ISK making activities in-game.

That. Or simply pay your sub the traditional way and allocate absolutely minimal effort to scrounging up isk plus acquire a taste for flying efficiently.

I've been subbed since 2009, never been space rich, but never broke either. I don't have any pve alts, nor do I take part in any isk-grinding activities. I simply pay my sub in cash, pick up the odd rat spawn on roams, loot my victims if they're carrying somehting of value that's small enough to fit in my hold, and occasionally ransom someone if it seems like they'll pay up.

I tend to avoid the zerg corps that have big fat ship-replacement programs so I'm not on that dole either. The real secret to staying shipped, the same secret to everything in eve, is flying smart and calculating risk. If you're one of those guys who thinks it's all about space honor and gudfites, prepare to pay the price of losing your ships more often. That's just opportunity cost. Don't get me wrong. I love those pilots. They are the source of a lot of my kills. But they ought to know, if they don't already, that jumping into long-odds is essentially gambling with your ship and implants in exchange for the thrills. Those people have my respect, but it's a playstyle I don't want to try and emulate.

But if you want to get kills, enjoy doing whatever you like, and not bother yourself regularly with the wallet; simply apply some common sense to what you do in space. You don't have to be a risk-averse bear to refreain from flushing billions down the toilet on a regular basis.

not sure if it counts as salvaging, but I met someone who earnt his first billion in two weeks going to the busiest FW systems (amamake/OMS) with a cheap tristan, set his overview up to dscan T2 drones that people left behind, and picked them up after fights... wish I had a known that when I started.
