"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 23/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014 (up to date now).

  • Freighter changes with Kronos - End of transition grace period on June 11
  • With Kronos we saw a considerable change to Freighters and Jump Freighters so that they can now fit up to three low slot modules. As compensation the base size of their cargohold was reduced during the Kronos deployment downtime. Freighters could get overloaded. We made exceptions that overloaded freighters due to this change won't get stuck in space, but this grace period is now over.

  • Alliance Tournament Late Signups available until Friday June 13th
  • The signups for Alliance Tournament XII are extended until Friday, June 13, 23:59 UTC. 63 eligible teams have signed up already, but to ensure that as many alliances as possible are given the opportunity to experience the Alliance Tournament, the signup period is extended. The CCP Alliance Tournament team will randomly draw one of the eligible latecomer entries to fill the final spot in Alliance Tournament XII. Sign up and be the lucky team!

  • The Fiction Portal and ISD Mercury's contributions
  • The Mercury volunteers - writers of fiction of various kinds for the world of EVE Online - are lending added depth to the Kronos release. Their new articles will be published throughout the early part of June, with the latest ones appearing on the Credits and Updates page. Check out the Fiction Portal and the latest articles to learn more about EVE Online's fantastic and deep background story!

  • Federal Government announces handover of Arcurio
  • After lengthy negotiations between Ishukone Administrators on Caldari Prime and Senate representatives in Luminaire, the Gallente Senate has announced that the City of Arcurio will be placed under Ishukone administration on July 1st. The agreement places the three most populous cities on Caldari Prime – Tovil, Arcurio and Pakuri – under the administration of Ishukone after the planet was declared a demilitarized zone in the wake of Operation Highlander in March YC 115.

  • What is this "Blueprint Static Data adjustment" developed with Crius?
  • CCP Greyscale engaged in very constructive community discussions regarding the adjustment of blueprint static data. In this and following posts (for example here and here) CCP Greyscale explains that this adjustment is meant to streamline blueprint data and to give the whole set of all blueprint a better and more intuitive structure. This adjustment is not meant to introduce new game play.

  • What happens with blueprints in use when Crius changes are deployed?
  • Blueprints which are in use when the industry changes are deployed with the Crius release will be delivered where they originally were installed from. Blueprints in a station which remotely use a POS will not magically end up at the POS, instead they will be returned to the station where they were originally installed from as CCP Nullarbor explains.

  • Duality test server available for Alliance Tournament XII training
  • CCP Fozzie recently announced that the test server Duality will be available for teams to train for the Alliance Tournament XII. He explains that the biggest thanks for this excellent opportunity should go to CCP Merovingian - all praise him!

  • Forum housekeeping and threads (un-)stickied
  • Sticking and un-sticking forum threads is nothing more than usual forum housekeeping and doesn't reflect the priority of a thread. It also doesn't mean that developers will stop listening to feedback in this thread or will not reply with news.

  • Framerate when using multiple clients and multiple gfx cards
  • Running multiple clients while using multiple graphic cards might result in a non-optimal frame rate with a drop of up to 10 FPS for each additional client. CCP Arcade continues to explain the various 'Interval' settings in the...

    • Industry Landscape
    • Relevant dev blogs: The Price of Change and Team up: Industry Work Teams - Prices of industry jobs are calculated based on industrial activity in the system. Higher industry activity results in higher job installation costs. Worker Teams can be hired to improve the job efficiency.

    • Little Things from Team Super Friend
    • At the moment two "Little Things" can be tested: (1) A flag for you to set which will exclude you from being fleet warped. (2) You can now fit modules (including rig) to ships even if you do not have the required skills to use those modules.

    • Manufacturing and general UI feedback
    • Relevant dev blogs: Building better Worlds and Industry UI - The new Industry UI is now available to be tested! Extra material from blueprints is removed, market groups are cleaned up and damage to R.A.M. / Rd.B. items is removed.

    • Reprocessing
    • Relevant dev blog: Reprocess all the things! - The formula for refining/reprocessing has been changed considerably. Compression is working in a different way. The UI for reprocessing has been completely reworked and considerably improved.

    • Research
    • Relevant dev blogs: Researching, the Future and Blueprint data adjustments. The open ended Material Efficiency and Time Efficiency system is completely overhauled and replaced by a 10 and 20 level system. Blueprint ranks are adjusted, material waste is removed. Also the copy times of blueprints receive a large revamp.

    • Starbases
    • Changes to Starbases will be part of the Crius release. The various assembly arrays will receive bonus with reduced material waste or even material requirement reduction. The cargo space of the assembly arrays is also increased, in some cases considerably. Research labs receive a bonus to faster research.

    Thank you for this weekly summary.

    CCP's sand box is EVE Online.  The sand is owned by CCP.  We pay them a monthly fee to throw the sand at each other.  That is all that is here, so move along. Nothing more to be seen.

    There is a list of known issues with the industry patch "features" , is there a list of things which are are not broken correctly?
    Im not sure what i am supposed to be testing when everything seems to be "oh yeah thats a known bug and we are working on it"

    Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.
