Father whacks teacher with baseball bat: Teacher texts man's daughter at 3 am

A father, who took matters into his own hands after police didn't offer him any help, hit his 15-year-old daughter's teacher with a baseball bat. The father and the mother of this young teen were upset over the amount of text messages that their daughter was receiving from her teacher, all hours of the day and night.

According to The Inquisitr on June 8, the father took this matter up with police after his daughter received a text message at 3 a.m. from the teacher. The police didn't find anything in the content of the messages that was breaking the law in anyway, so they couldn't offer the irate dad any legal recourse.

The Baltimore Sun reports that this happened between a Perry High School teacher and student's father in Perry Hill Maryland. Names are not released because no charges have been filed.

The 43-year-old teacher came over to the family's house, apparently after learning the text messages he had sent the girl had upset the parents. When the teacher arrived, the father told him to leave, but he didn't. The father grabbed a baseball and hit the teacher with it, which was his way of coaxing him out the door.

The teacher did not press charges in the assault, but apparently he got the message from the outraged dad. Police would not say what was in the messages that upset the father and the mother, but they did say it wasn't anything they'd deem inappropriate.

The parents said that the messages reflected an "emotional relationship" and they feel it was inappropriate for the teacher to text message their daughter on an on-going basis at all hours of the day and night. The Police in Baltimore, who have checked the message disagree with the mother's explanation of the content of the text messages.

The father said it was the quantity of messages that this teacher sent to his daughter that was also disturbing. He said there were "dozens" of texts sent between the teacher and his daughter and most parents would agree that is a bit disturbing even if they are just talking about something generic, like the weather or sports.

It is sad that the dad was left no choice but to strike out physically at the teacher. It sounds as if he was at his wits end. In this day and age, authorities warn that parents should monitor what their kids are texting and who they are texting with.

This is clearly not a normal texting relationship with a male teacher and a female student if he is sending a text message at 3 a.m. to a teen in his class. Many would not blame the father for being so concerned, but picking up a baseball bat is not the answer.

According to ABC News 5, the teacher has been barred from the student's home. The case has been reported to the school board and the Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating this incident today.

This "teacher" apparently has personal and professional boundary issues.

I agree that it sound like things were a little past acceptable, but the father is just off his rocker. He is quoted as saying the texts were not inappropriate. The fathers actions were. Block the phone number, call the police when the teacher would not leave.... Many options here but he resorted to violence when it was not necessary. It sounds like the father should get himself checked before he wrecks himself. That being said he has effectively ruined his daughters date life for the next 3 years. That or he has just pushed her further away. Bad Parenting FTL...IMHO that is.

EDIT: Hell students and teachers maintain communication through FB and who else knows what other media communication outlets, at all hours of the day. The teacher is a bit off his rocker as well if I will be honest.

There is good reason for me not wanting to touch a high school Athletic Training position with a 50 foot poll. I would not even want to think about what would happen to me if I ignored the flirtings of a 15-17 y/o female (or male for that matter now a days). There is one boy who posed as a girl and got 30 guys to send him naked pics and then used them to blackmail some of them into having sex with himShocked

They say teenagers don't know what they are doing. Bah! They know exactly what they are doing and the laws surrounding this issues need to be revisited urgently.

What a player. Oh damn, she was only 15 eh... that's a little too young, personally I only go for ages 16 to 55 .

If someone doesn't want to leave my property at my command, I would hit them with a baseball bat too.

I do not disagree with the use of force when force is necessary, but I am pretty sure that my shotgun would do a better job and I would not have to do anything other than pump the action to pop one live shell out to show it is live loaded while someone else in the house called the cops. There are usually better alternatives when your life is clearly not in danger.

Sounds like the father may be "old school." When and where I grew up, it was completely acceptable for two men to settle their "disputes" in a back alley and cops didn't interfere until the fight was over.

"You don't mess with a man's family" was the unwritten law of the time.

Yeah. Well I have a 306 as well. I wouldn't actually use a baseball bat. I don't even own one. I just meant, yeah, if some teacher is sending my 15 year old daughter texts at 3am, and then refuses to leave my property when I say so, then there's gonna be a problem.

Edit: or just if anyone refuses to leave my property, for that matter.

As a father of a teenage girl, I don't give a **** if the cops think a text message to my daughter at 3am is not inappropriate if the context is not "breaking" any laws. My kid, my rules.

If I understand the article correctly, it seems the teacher visited the family uninvited, and when asked to leave, refused. If that happened in my house, not only would I be beating the ever living **** out of the dude, my wife would be right there helping. Where I live, once I ask you to leave, and you refuse, that is trespassing, and I'm allowed to use reasonable force to remove your ass, even if that means killing you.

A teacher, in my so humble opinion, should not be communicating with a student outside of school hours. If they so desire to talk with my daughter about something, then they can do that either through myself or my wife, or with all of us present.

In our house, we have two rules....

1. no dating till you are 18
2. no dating till you are 18

Of course, we know she is showing some interest in boys, so we aren't totally strict. Just no one on one dating.

But, a 43 year old teacher and a 15 year old girl.... ewwwwww.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

To be clear. I do not agree with anything the teacher did. I just do not agree with how it escalated. Resorting to violence, when there are clearly less violent options, is the mark of someone with control issues. The reaction here is nothing I would want to teach my daughter or son, and trust me! my daughter will learn how to rip a man's balls off , destroy joints, and how to kill with minimal force; when necessary.

Not sure what you think is implausible. Plenty of stories of fathers killing other fathers over youth sports.

43-year-old texting a 15-year-old all the time and at all times of night + refusing to leave home = teacher is lucky to only be hit once, imo

How the hell is even a single one private message between a teacher and a pupil "not inappropriate"?

That teacher should never again be allowed to even look at a school from a distance!

Both my wife and myself remember what it was like being a teenager.

Do we expect our daughter to follow the rules, of course we do. Are we so naive to think she will at all times? Of course not.

That is why we are involved in her life and hope we are teaching her a sense of right/wrong, and what not in order to make good decisions. Will she always make good ones? Of course not, how else is she going to learn?

But we will be there to help guide her and support her. Or something like that.

It's not that she can not date, just not one on one until she is older.

Some of the stories my wife has told me about her childhood make my shenanigans pale in comparison Shocked

But than, I didn't really hit my stride till I joined the Navy, but that may, or may not be the same thing.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

"which was his way of coaxing him out the door.

Wut? I would have just unloaded on him with buckshot after telling him to leave the house, probably salt load - hear him scream running down the road. Baseball bat pfff...
Especially if he just barged through the door, I don't think this guy let him in. Too many predator teachers, and sounds like he's a nut case. Should lose his job, but of course the fail teachers union will protect him, they protect even far worse.

I'm not to sure, but wouldn't the father be able to set up a restraining order to to the teacher showing up uninvited? I mean isn't that considered trespassing? And if I remember correctly, attacking an uninvited person on your property with appropriate force isn't assault but self defense (at least where I live).

Also I am completely on his side (the fathers). I have a 5 month old daughter and **** like this makes think I should reenact the story of Rapunzel. At least until she can go to uni. Old teacher dude seems creepy.

Also the whole texts deemed as 'appropriate'? That just really irks me. How is a text from a 43-year old at 3 in the morning to an underage girl 'appropiate'?

Well, "appropriate force" is more a law enforcement thing. For home owners/residents it can be a bit different, but depends on where you live. Here, well pretty much anything goes, provided they are truly an invader and not an invited quest. This teacher didn't sound invited, though could have been let in by the daughter... which could mean trouble; an out of control teenage daughter. Of course texting by an adult teacher in the middle of the night, likely some perv, sounds like lots of trouble. Then the teacher going to their home to interfere with family business? imo he was asking for worse, he should be locked up. Obviously it wasn't something that the teacher wanted to call the police over to check out, he probably has a lot hiding here, shtupping an underage student or something, or planning to.
