A possible fix for local + moving people into low-sec.

I've seen many post about local chat. Most about removing it.
I've seen a lot of ideas on getting people into low-sec.

-- My thought --

Take local from the single system to the constellation level.

i.e. Instead of just Dodixie, your "local" would include all of the Coriault constellation.

If there are low-sec systems in the new local. PVPers will need to do a little more work to find them. This also makes hi-sec care bears pay more attention, as that PVP guy might start in low-sec and come into their system to get them.

--So this would increase the work to be aware on both for parties.
--Will help promote more risk from hi-sec care bears as it will be harder for low-sec gankers to weed them out while they are in low-sec
--Keeps hi-sec care bears on their toes, as they will need to be aware of not only their system but their whole area.

--Also will help promote information gathering between people.
i.e. I could be mining and let others know that there are cosmic anomalies in system or vise versa.

**EDIT** Just thought about this. Would be cool if all Sov space owned by a corp/alliance would be connected this way, as long they are connected via star gate. **** (Then again. does null have a local?. I've only been like once, and didn't last long as I got an express trip to my medical clone)

The space below is for good positive feed back on issues related to this. Please (me including) don't turn this in to an rant!

FYI, constellation channels already exist...
Or they used too... haven't looked in a few years.

This system would make it hell, for any type of wardec. If my war targets could see me enter the constellation , they could easily dock up while I'm 3 to 4 jumps away. The Wardec feature would falter and probably die.

And that.. is a bad thing ?

(adds more active scouting hunting, more active gameplay ... always a plus)

The OP basic Idea is ok, but the execution is impossible due to spam/bots.

Yes, Because it completely destroys a system within the game. Even if you don't like Wardecs, it's still a feature killer, with the way wardecs are currently handled. And how does a constellation wide, local type chat, benefit someone who hunts in a wardec? All it would take for a player to see that a wartarget enter the constellation, is a quick glance at the chat window. Then they can either docked up, or, and a less likely situation, get into a more pvp fitted ship.

This would also make Highsec Gate camps improbable, because a wartarget/ganktarget would know that there is a surplus of baddies near by and turn tail. It would ruin basically everything for a Merc corp because all of a sudden you can't even catch your targets because they are systems away and know your coming before you can even act on it.

This system rewards laziness, and would make spambots a nightmare, that alone should be enough to make it a bad idea regardless of any Wardec opinions.

Would not it be easier, just to stop people automatically showing up in local and have maybe them show up when entering a system or talking but only for a set number of mins.

lowsec - you can see who enters a system for a short period of time. you can still see the number of people in local, just not who.
wormhole - stays the same
highsec - you can see who enters a system for a slightly shorter period of time and the number of people just not who.

so I enter system,

Bal'ayle shows up
3m later (time open for adaption) I stop showing up in local, but the number of players in local still shows the full number of peeps

I talk
Bal'Ayle: Hey guys.

My message stays for everyone who was there to see it, and after 5m my info disapears from the list of people in local, but the message and number of plays still remains accurate. message stays for people who were there to see it, no one else can see it who enters after it was said

I agree, get rid of local, constellation chat is fine. I suggested the same thing myself a long while back so +1 from me.
