The best bet is renter areas, from experience they seem to let their signatures build up for some reason (can't bot hacking I suppose). Provi and catch are bad choices, Provi is well known bear territory, and catch just had 8000 newbs move in who are going to be farming the low level explo content.

Open the dotlan map of the region, sort by jumps, also open up another map and sort by npcs kills. These two stats will tell you the underused under traveled systems where signatures will build up. Look through the different regions gives you an idea of activity in each.

No one is going to respond to requests for site sale offers from a neut because it's obvious bait for a log off trap or whatever. Take a reality check here.

More like they get a bit worried when other people are running through their system, and grabbing sites from a system someone else is renting is rather rude...

Having said that: how do I find out where renters are? This is Corps renting systems from powerblocs right?

Can anyone comment accurately on the exact mechanic for CosSig spawning as it relates to Data/Relic sites in K-Space?

As to persistence, I'm happy that someone is finding sites all through the day: I'll definitely be roaming around still of course, so we'll see. Unfortunately, I have a job, so being persistent all day is not really an option. I have a few hours in the evening, at best.

I dig the 'lonesome' vibe of wandering around deep null, it's why I zip around W and K space, looking for things to do, sell and raid. It would be fun to actually interact with players though when you meet them. Just like in the aforementioned wild west: desolate, but people would still tip hats every now and then. Of all the systems I went through, and people I tried to engage, just 1 person reacted yesterday. Is everyone really thinking that any interaction will lead to hotdrop/AWOX/boom/hurt?

It just strikes me that mechanics in 0.0 have ultimately created a tendency not to interact, where player interaction is one of the joys of EVE (at least for me). And by interaction I don't mean a gateblob. I'm talking conversation, sharing of directions, etcetera.

I would guess you might get a similar welcome if you were to travel to a foreign country, or sticking to the wild west theme, someone else's land, and make it known you wish to pick a fight and/or plunder their local resources. At best they're going to ignore you. Aggressive defenders will round up a posse and run you out of town. No one is going to give you directions to the best place to dig for "their" gold.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Maybe you are exploring regions that don't have sites?

I'm not entirely sure how the spawn mechanics work, but I did the same as you...I spent a few days trawling the universe, and once i scanned 40 systems and didn't find a site. However, I now fly areas that always have sites.

Isn't that a problem though? Shouldn't all null have relics/data? Rather than cramming them into one area?

Plus, something else I noticed - I wandered into sansha region for a couple of days and scanned 4 quarry's - this is unheard of in other regions? Is there disparity here?

They re usually organized in rental alliances for the really large programs.

The superpowers of Northern Associates. and Brothers of Tangra are examples of rental alliances. As you can see, 0.0 has a flourishing renter powerbase.

As far as Im aware, CCP has never confirmed the mechanism as to how sites spawn in this game. I've seen alot of different theories, but no confirmation. Personally I think its random with some hidden timers involved. Would love to know one way or the other.

Sites are not added or removed during downtime, sites are only reassigned new alphanumeric id during downtime, but the sites type and location remain the same.

The main reason to start scanning right after downtime, is that there are few people on the server, which means less afk'ers/gate camps/etc.

When they pop, they respawn somewhere else in the universe. It has nothing to do with DT.

I don't think CCP has ever confirmed how they work. My understanding is that completed sites respawn shortly in the same region. Sites that have existed longer than a certain number of days respawn at downtime. I'm not sure what happens to partially completed data/relic sites since some explorers cherry pick the cans wasting quick respawns.

I've found that many explorers have a standard loop that they run. You might have someone in your area that clears all the sites an hour before you log on. Find out who they are ... and then lay a trap for them.

Site spawn mechanics also mean they have a tendency to accumulate in less travelled systems. I found one system in high-sec somewhere off the beaten path with some 20 anomalies and 10 signatures. And as long as those are not expiring, they won't spawn in the more travelled areas.

I like it, it's very organic. They should do something like that with rats, ores and missions.

With respect to the fact that they respawn shortly after popping, and it isn't related to DT, they most certainly have.

And really, a blindfolded glass of orange juice would eventually notice that, hey, there's a sig here that wasn't here before, and there hasn't been a downtime in the last half hour, sooooo....
