Hello all, I have recently been doing some carrier ratting ( insert troll here) anyways the issue i have just come across is that i have not figured out how to assign drones to a sub capital pilot. I see the assist option and the drones indeed will orbit the pilot on assist but if that pilot where to warp out the drones do not follow and just return and orbit my ship. I know there have been all kinds of changes to drones in the Kronos expansion but i can not find anything on drone assigning other than the new 50 drone cap.

Am i seriously missing something here? and is assist/ assign the same thing just different terminology?

Are we talking about drones or fighters here?

I am not a capital pilot but it is my understanding that only fighters follow things into warp. Drones do not, even when launched from a carrier.

I am definitely talking about fighter drones, and am aware that normal drones do not have this capability.

Disclaimer: I have no experience using fighter drones.

My understanding was that if you assign the drones to another ship, the drones won't follow the assigned ship in warp. However if the assigned ship engages the fighters on a target, and that target warps, then the drones will follow. Someone with lots of experience with fighters should be able to confirm/explain this for us.

Assigned and assisted drones are two different functions. Assisted drones have to stay in grid with the owner and the assisted pilot.

Assigned drones can be assigned (iirc) from anywhere in the system. Also assigned drones can't exceed the control capacity of the assigned ship, regardless of drone controls of the carrier I believe.

"assigned drones can't exceed the control capacity of the assigned ship, regardless of drone controls of the carrier I believe."

I think this may be the answer, will do more research on the matter.

OK this is still not working for me. The target character is in a BC with the capability of controlling 5 drones. Is this not something that can be done anymore? I don't see anywhere to "assign" drones or fighters. Assist is the only option and it only works on grid? 54 km actually.

From what i am understanding ( really hoping this is not outdated info ) I should be able to sit just outside POS shields while a second ship warps around with fighter assisted dps. I did not think that this would be so hard. I just cant seem to get the fighters to follow.

On that screenshot you are using Geckos, they are not Fighters but Heavy Drones so they can not be assigned.
