Does anyone ever use Clone Vat bays?

I have been playing since july 2006 and have yet to run into corp or alliance ever using one.

My question for the comunity is: does any one actually use this mod and if so in what capacity?

Peronally i would like to use one as i live in hostile space and not even remotely close to a npc station with a med bay. but the fact you have to use either a rorq or a titan and you have to be outside a pos shield pretty much makes it a non starter.

I would like it if the clone vat bay was made into a pos mod or at the least able to be activated inside of a pos.

Only silly walks Titans will waste a slot on a clone vat. Pretty much anything else a Titan will fit is a better use of the slot. Supercarriers won't use them for the same reason. Rorquals might use them, but only for commercial purposes and only if they don't mind blowing up.

Make it a POS mod and it may get used.

should the mod be outside of the pos or inside?

I would totally use one in a heart beat if i could put one in a pos.

It would have to be a module that can not be onlined in a WH. I dont think that is a parameter you can give to a POS module atm and adding that to the POS code...you don´t really want to torture the poor devs that much, do you?

umm yeah that works... how about instead of muking with the pos code they make it a "new deployable" (as that code is brand new) that can only be activated within 5km of a pos and cant be used in a wh.

We use them all the time to create jump clones for people. Also they work just fine inside POS shields.

I've used them on a Rorqual a few times before, when corpies couldn't get jump clones in hisec, so we moved them to a low system, cynoed in the rorqual, and abused the crap out of it. Made something like 60 jump clones.

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

can someone C/D this as even in "help" chan in game there is not a consistant answer on this.

though if indeed it does work inside a pos this would make it usefull to me as i do have a spare rorq. but still i think it should have a pos mod or deployable structure added

Better yet, just make it a regular deployable that only works for the character who anchored it. Use it as an addition to the "mobile camp" type of thought, using a depot as a sort of hub with other modules that can be put around it.

You realise there' s this magic thing called "refitting" that titans can do, means there's no "wasted slots" i also heard rorquals can blow up when they do it in the saftey of a pos, Do you even ever undock?

I use them, i'm far too lazy to grind standings to make clones in stations so i just use clone vat bays, super usefull for alts and stuff without standings too.

My old corp used one when we were in Empire recruiting a lot of rookies. We just parked a rorq in a lowsec POS for a week or so. We would have preferred a POS module for sure.

I've seen it suggested recently somewhere on the Indy/POS changes feedback thread. Might be worth poking the devs in there again.
