i just repost this which came out in the ship 3d becouse i think is a good point to argue about.

I dont have much experience in this game, but sure i've played a lot of games in my life, and i can say a think about what i've played, about the caldary stuff, which i dont really like.
For me the whole missile ammo and launcher skillset has no point in how it works, the skill should be related in the engine of the missile type, not for their name, cause a light and heavy missile are the stupdi same missile in different size why the hell i should learn different skillset when they do the same thing?

A more serius base skillset will be like this more of less:

-Guided missile skill: enable t1 light, heavy, cruise size missile, their t1 launcher and improve damage lvl on every guided missile

-Assault missile skill: enable t1 rocket, heavy assault, torpedo size missile, their t1 launcher and improve damage lvl on every assault missile (edit: ops confused)

-F.o.F. missile skill: enable fof ammo and damage on it

-defender missile skill: enable defender and improve their velocity on it

and the advanced stuff

-advance guided missile skill: enable guided missile t2 launcher and improve rate of fire lvl on it

-Fury guided missile skill: enable fury ammo and improve damage lvl on it

-Precision guided missile skill: enable precision ammo and decrese sig radius lvl on it ( but the name is pratically the same of the skill yet in game, could be related)

-advance assault missile skill: enable unguided missile t2 launcher and improve rate of fire lvl on it

-Rage assault missile skill: enable rage ammo and improve damage lvl on it

-javelin assault missile skill: enable javelin ammo and improve travel time lvl on it

super advanced stuff

-citadel guided missile skill: capital cruiser launcher and ammo

-citadel assault missile skill: capital torpedo launcher and ammo

The amount of skill point and skill required to train other skill will be different from now, but
-All have more sense
-No more tons of useless skill
-Less complex
-More efficent
-No sp waste
-and dev will probably have an easy mode to balance it about the skill point and about subpar or overpower type of missile engine i think
-Noob frendly (cause actually is a good for so many point of view, even if some people sure can think different)

Big change but i think will be a big improve to the whole missile sistem, hard to say if could be done easly, but i cant even think why the dev didnt developed the missile skill set directly in this way.

thinking about it, the advanced ammo skill can still be swapped in less lvl subskill, like now for example
-light Fury guided missile skill: enable light fury ammo and improve damage lvl on it
-heavy fury guided missile skill: enable heavy fury ammo and improve damage lvl on it
-light Precision guided missile skill: enable light precision ammo and decrese sig radius lvl on it
-heavy precision guided missile skill: enable heavy precision ammo and decrese sig radius lvl on it
anyway the whole stuff for have sense must separe the skill needed to the differente t2 engine

I would hazard a guess it was done this way intentionality to keep the training times on par with a gunnery focused pilot

I lied :o

Its not just weapons enabled. It's ships in general. I started playing EVE in 2009 because someone told me I could fly a "missile class battle cruiser" in game. Obviously that was the Drake, which I for the most part don't even fly anymore.

Point being missiles sound much cooler and attract far more people than "auto cannons" and "blasters" to the game, however when you get in game it seems like CCP wants to get totally away from missiles. Maybe because of lag and maybe because of balancing however missiles and even drones need to be buffed and there need to be more ships that use them.

The new battle cruisers are a real let down for all missile users as, I am sure, are a lot of the Caldari ships that use hybrids. A quick fix would be to change the non Caldari combat recon ships to use a full load of missiles instead of a hybrid platform.

Every time I hear "nerf Drakes!", I laugh because some people act like any good missile ship ruins the game.

Maybe because Heavy Missiles, and the Drake seem fundamentally overpowered compared to similar class ships.

I have been astounded what friends can do in a drake with 1/2 the SP I have in my own BC's

This whole thing feels like a solution desperately seeking a problem. Or, more simply put, what exactly is the problem with how missile skills work already? I don't see a problem, and I certainly don't see one that's solved by your... solution.
