Is CCP afraid of these ships ?

Hello fellow miners

The Alliance Tournament XII is almost upon us. Now some of us have entered the random draw to be one of the few to participate in the alliance tournament and some of us have even gone so far as started theorycrafting setups for the upcoming tournament.

I was reading the rules for the tournament and people are allowed to field almost any subcapital ship no matter how overpowerd, rare or expensive that ship seams to be. After checking the list of allowed ships over and over I noticed that 3 ships are not on it, the Skiff, Mackinaw and Hulk.

Now I know you might think me crazy right about now but let me explain. All of our mining barges got a huge buff in Kronos and now people with mining skills could be able to participate in the tournament to complement the bigger ships but only if these ships were on the roster for allowed ships.

The skiff in particular is very powerful atm and now CCP has a rare oppertunity to allow miners into the tournament since we have the rare skills to fly these ships that the normal veterans don't have .

The skiff has a hugely abnormal amounts of hit-points that border on the insane it also has a slew or midslots for dampening and drones with a huge damage bonus. Here are a few comparisons I made with the Skiff.

Please please CCP the Skiff is a valid pvp ship, now let us use it in the tournament or are you afraid that miners in these ships might be more powerfull then the rare prize ships in eve?

I don't disagree that the skiff should be allowed, but your argument that miners would sign up for the tourney if they were allowed is pretty far fetched.

She has a point

.. and Team Highsec has gone AFK again. I don't know what theyre thinking this time Tom.

Well Chad, apparently Team Highsec has lobbied for CONCORD implementation during this years Alliance Tourney.. and half are off enjoying Netflix at the moment hoping that CONCORD will save them. A quarter of them have pretty much run to the forums to complain that there are no asteroids in this pocket, the other quarter of Team Highsec are frantically looking on Google for some kind of Mission Guide to see what they should be tanking for.

Tom, what are we doing with our lives?

Chad, I have no clue. Want a shot? Might as well, the fights already over.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

This is the weirdest thread on the front page of GD right now.

Except for that one about how WoD was fetish pornography. And that other one about, oh never mind.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

I had a (far-fetched) dream of leading a team into the tournament, somehow making it past the initial rounds, naming all of the ships "Veldspar," and placing the Skiff and Mackinaw on the banned list. This was dashed when I learned mining barges are not allowed. My other dream of naming the ships after trade goods and banning indies is still a go, though.

No, trolls should not be allowed to even enter mining ships and occupy the place of a player taking the tournament seriously.

There is no chance. There should be a larger ban list tbh

Skiffs aren't troll ships.
However anyone who could fly one seriously could fly any of the other drone ships seriously with a week or two only of training, since they would only have to train the bare hull, already having every other relevant skill trained to V for the Skiff. So anyone who could have entered seriously in the skiff.... can still enter and just cross train slightly.

I normally don't watch the tourney, but if I knew an alliance was gonna use Skiffs or something like it, I might watch it.

Wasn't there a badger in the AT I think around 2010?

Battle badgers enjoyed a brief spate of popularity around that time. Can anybody remember the story around that? Cool

There were a good amount of Iteron MkVs in AT VIII (2010). Here's one where it was used as a damping ship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXbV-4qpwtc

I believe AT XI actually had a badger used as part of a tinker setup. And there was the match in the opening rounds where one team fielded nothing but indies due to a rules change disqualifying their pilots.

as good as the skiff tank may be there will continue to be better choices in a tournament where points are limited. the skiff can't do a whole lot of damage or support otherwise and there are even better choices for toughness. still, I'm sure it's just an oversight that they are not allowed.

I would love to see battle-Skiffs used.

It would make things interesting.

Indeed I have.

I mean with the new changes.

And I can fly one...

So why exactly would I need YT?

There go my hopes of fielding a mining fleet into a tourney match and asking the devs to put The Spod into the middle of the arena for us to mine..

Idea watching barges flail impotently at proper ships is exactly the kind of short, unentertaining and disappointing match i don't want to see when i watch the AT
