I'm thinking of picking one up to fool around with.

What's everyone using it for?

Fancy ship spinning and buyers regret.

But when it comes to my corp a fight killer. for some reason no one wants to take on 10 of these jumping through a hole. You would think t3 elitists would jump at the chance to kill them.

Interesting. I'm not sure whether this justifies the price tag, but it seems to sweeten the deal.

I'm getting the impression that a minor (?) decrease in tanking ability has been compensated for by significant gains in speed and ranged damage-dealing. Which really just parrots the marketing push behind it, but it's not making it less attractive. It sounds like it might be a lot of fun to fly.

It's just a Drake with better application. You don't have to worry about getting outmaneuvered as much because your HAMs will hit out to point range and hit harder against smaller targets, but it's still really slow with unimpressive DPS. Being a Drake +1/2 isn't nearly enough to make up for how unimpressive Drakes are, especially for the price.

Added bonus: you get two extra launchers, but only enough extra fitting for one of them.

i havent flown the navy drake but what ive seen on her is u lose the resistence boni but have a T2 LSE already integrated in the hull. I dont know what u plan but with good skills u get ham ranges which the normal one can barely beat with heavy missiles and rly good application bonus. Missile damage isnt limited to scourge either as with the normal one.

IIRC It's basically the old Drake without the tank. Do people actually fly these in PVP?

5% bonus to Heavy Assault and Heavy Missile explosion radius per level instead of 10% to kinetic damage.
10% Missile Velocity bonus instead of 4% Resistance

Some are using them

So less kinetic damage but more damage with other types.

The velocity bonus is only to give the Navy Drake the same range as the old pre HM nerf Drake so it's not really an added bonus.

The old Drake used to be able to solo level 4 missions without perfect skills and you didn't have to worry too much about aggro. You might be able to do the same with the Navy Drake but with the paper thin tank you would have to be careful.

For PVP I just don't see the point. Maybe some specific fleet doctrine but not for small gang PVP

Drake is 6 launchers + 50% kin damage.
N.drake is 8 launchers + 0% damage.

N.drake gets explosion velocity and missile velocity bonuses.
N.drake does 33.33% more damage with EM,EXP,THERM and ~11% less damage when using KIN than the vanilla drake.

It's not damage, it's explosion velocity.

The Navy Drake does less raw damage than a normal Drake, but isn't pinned to Kinetic and will probably do more damage in practice since it has another 50% range and better application.

However "puts out a bit more damage in practice" is not exactly a glowing endorsement for something that expensive.

I can design a Heavy Missile navy Drake that hits for full effect as long as a MWDing cruiser is traveling slower then 6100m/s. 2155 Alphas out to 99km every six seconds. Medium micro jump fit with 70k EHP. I've put it together. I'm a bit nervous about undocking it P

Its neither, its explosion radius.

On the other hand, pay an extra 50mil and get the much much better Nighthawk.
