This might get a possible source of income for some of you guys. Maybe not as developers of sarcasm detectors, but as suppliers of troll posts for product testing.

US Secret Service seeks Twitter sarcasm detector

The agency has put out a work tender looking for a software system to analyse social media data.

The software should have, among other things, the "ability to detect sarcasm and false positives".

A spokesman for the service said it currently used the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Twitter analytics and needed its own, adding: "We aren't looking solely to detect sarcasm."

The Washington Post quoted Ed Donovan as saying: "Our objective is to automate our social media monitoring process. Twitter is what we analyse.

"This is real-time stream analysis. The ability to detect sarcasm and false positives is just one of 16 or 18 things we are looking at." ...

Oh, this will be helpful.

Im sure it wont cost too much.

Government spending at its finest.

Hopefully itll be made available for public use, im sure many many forums would love to have one laying around.

Well, im out. I use IE 5.0 because its the only one I have a CD for.

That, and Im almost done using all of my stockpiled AOL 60 Hour Free CDs.

I want to say something, but I'm afraid it could end up being a "false positive" that goes into my permanent record. I think I'll just wait until they perfect the sarcasm detector.

Sarcasm detectior=the Irish guy in the office.

Works with British people aswell but we're lovabley roughish and much more entertaining at Xmas partys
