With 50 redundancies taking place throughout CCP will Eve's wealthy invest further in the already soaring PLEX market in anticipation of $ Plex price increase? With further eve features requiring PLEX and more in future development PLEX price is surely in for big rises in the coming months?

CCP probably won't increase what they charge, the outrage would be huge.

They have to pay the bills and wages which they are not managing to do currently so I see $ PLEX price and thus large in game price rises.

I keep all my liquid in PLEX from what I have left over from day to day in game market trading and PVP.

An increase in PLEX prices (in USD) would lead to some players swapping from PLEX payments to a subscription, an increase in illicit RMT, and likely little or no increase in PLEX revenue.

If CCP were legitimately in trouble and wanted short term cash at the expense of the game's future, you'd see sanctioned paid cheating creep its way in. Probably in the form of an end to the war on bots, or introduction of game-able tournaments on demand (win 10 of this AT-quality ship if you win the tournament, 5 PLEX per team to enter, runs on demand, no action taken against teams that collude with their rivals).

If they were in real trouble and willing to go further in sacrificing integrity for short-term profit, you'd see CCP create new characters to buy PLEX from the market (creating the ISK out of thin air), then delete the PLEX.

Their actions in the recent Caldari Provist event indicate that they are not looking to do any of these things.

And a lot of letters too.

I even found a typo: "Financial Income Reveived".

I really am wasting my breath though, when you can avoid questions from Hexxx and RAW23 like that you must have some seriously devoted investors. --Elizabeth Norn

They paid off people who were working on another project which they stopped not because they were running out of money, why have excess staff when you dont need them

Why jump into console gaming when 99% of the industry doesn't see any upside, either.

IMO, EVEn money says once "Legion" is up and running as a proper PC game, you'll see "the fat trimmed off the bone" again and DUST will be buried right along side WoD, and Incarna, and forgotten just as quickly. IMO.

Maybe an increase in RMT but I'm not sure how many players would swap from PLEX to subscription. Never underestimate how worthless ISK is compared to the real almighty dollar. I bet PLEX prices could double in the next three months and people would still be buying it, so we can only hope that CCP would step in before then.

True and as the game future looks more and more shaky people will be less likely to invest RL cash into instead relying on ever rarer PLEX.

Op just wants to scaremonger people into buying plex, result is plex prices rise and he makes a profit on the plex he has stockpiled.

That's all this thread is.

PLEX is going to rise whether people stockpile or not, It will be over 1bn ISK by Christmas.

I have the in-game resources to comfortably PLEX my accounts, yet both are on a subscription at the moment because despite not being IRL wealthy, USD25/month is not much of my disposable income. I spend more than twice that amount on a gym membership. (I do pay dual character training fees, when desired, via PLEX acquired via trading).

If I need to tighten my belt IRL, I'd cut down on drinking sessions first, then after that would change to PLEXing the accounts.

And this is someone with well over 50b in assets and an income of multiple billions per month.

That said, I have never and do not ever intend to purchase PLEX from CCP to resell on the market. Losing a slightly blinged Ishtar can be enjoyable when you think 'ah well, that's 90 minutes of ISK generation activities erased, but those activities were still somewhat fun'. If instead I start thinking 'that's USD 9 destroyed' I'd be converting that into time at work, and thinking 'ugh, no, I do not want to stare at spreadsheets and airworthiness directives for X time, that ruins the experience of the fight I lost the Ishtar in'.

Actually it would be more business savvy to try to increase revenue by ensuring more PLEX sales rather than increasing PLEX price. I would expect to see more offers on PLEX and potentially more drives to increase the player base which again will usually increase the sale of PLEX without changing the prices.

So there are at least clear elements that point to the fact that when CCP struggles financially they may take decisions which will result in a drop in the ISK value of plex, not a rise.
