just a thought, feel free to troll me to hell

With cov ops ships usually being slightly weaker then their prey the opening shot means everything, With the exception of bombs should SB's, Recons and BLOPS get a damage multiplier or auto crit on their 1st shot within a couple of seconds of dropping cloak?

Maybe with a timer that prevents the mechanic been exploited?

call it a stealth attack, surprise attack, whatever.

How about an ability for the shot to disrupt the target ship or "stun" it for a few seconds. We could call the ability 'cheap shot' and it would be exclusive for rogue ships. It could have some kind of diminishing returns(DR) to keep the abuse to a minimum.

So instead of trying to rip something from a fantasy RPG and expecting it to be appropriate for Eve, why don't you apply game mechanics to it?

You could try allowing any ship capable of fitting a covert ops cloak the ability to overheat their high slots for 1 cycle before dropping cloak or while waiting for the target timer to wear off for cruisers, at the cost of three or four times the normal heat damage to those modules. If those modules are fired within their next cycle time, the damage for both cycles is applied, plus the overheating bonus, minus whatever other factors are at play such as transversal, range, etc... If you don't fire within that second cycle, you burned the crap out of your high modules for nothing and start the fight at a severe disadvantage.

BACKSTAB!
That were great days indeed. Big smile
Unfortunatually, EVE's mechanics can't distinguish hide from front.

5 launchers would be nice, even if cpu and power don't go up.

Is that my two cents or yours?
