So, now that I've got a custom PC, finally.... the urge to mod it is way too strong.
I'm looking up internal lighting, LCD gauges, fan upgrades.... visual accents for the inside of the case.... possibly a Gurista's-style paintjob for the case (bunny eared skull decal goes without saying...)

I've started down the dark path, and my girlfriend is already annoyed with my car habit. She's probably going to dead me.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep this as inexpensive as possible, without sacrificing quality?

PS: don't ask for my stuff, because my current last will and testament already lists Kaphine as the beneficiary for everything I own in EVE, in the event of my untimely demise. I'm not joking. I've actually planned for what becomes of my virtual possessions if I die, IRL.

My dibs on peoples stuff overrides several countries laws on virtual goods in regards to last wills. I thought you knew that.

In all seriousness... CCP, posts like this one show the need for Decals and such in the Eve Store...

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

+1 I had to get my Guristas window decal/sticker made up at a local vinyl cutters, my Minmatar Logo is stencilled onto my PC.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Enablers..... you two are enablers. This is going to get bad for me.

What's a good "look the other way" gift for a woman who doesn't like jewelry and lots and lots of shoes? I have little to no experience with low-maintenance women....

Ignore all the stupid LCD gauges, ground effects, all that stuff - focus your modding on what actually matters - great hardware, great cooling, and a nice case.

Not only will it save you a lot of cash, think of how often you stare at your case vs. how often you stare at your display. No matter how many hundreds of dollars you spend on totally un-needed fancy case mods, after a few weeks it will be just another object in your house that you are bored of looking at. Spend the money on better cooling and better hardware instead!

I wanted to fall far short of specs that require liquid-cooling. The fan my "dealer" installed on this thing is the size of my fist, and there's plenty of open-air space inside. LOTS of ventilation ports, including most of the top panel.

This is good advice, for sure. I wasn't wanting to go too crazy, but I like having stuff that looks awesome as well as functions great.

Let me get this right: You bought a CUSTOM PC and now you want to CUSTOMIZE it...

Yes.
I also bought a fast car and made it faster.

Your girlfriend needs to get some perspective. The alternative to you moving around modding is for you to be quietly sitting in a chair, wearing a headset, staring at a monitor, and occasionally saying odd things like "going to ee-cee-pater gate" or "I have a thorax."

She's actually pretty knowledgeable about the game. Especially for someone who has never played. She even knows my favorite ship, and what it looks like. I don't catch hell for playing, but if she needs me for something, she'll always ask me "are you able to dock up?" before calling me away from the computer.
I'd say I have it pretty well made.
